Description Ahh what a co-inky-dink.. This is my latest Thomas model, And I've started taking a liking to more realistic LEGO Locomotives and Rolling Stock, so details and things are my key aim to improve on. I'm also looking away from the Television Series and going back to the roots by basing my Model on the supposed latest RWS version of the North western Railways (NWR's) N.o. 1 titles 'Thomas'. This includes having a longer shape, a flat running plate which is painted black, and more details. They may not be seen here. But Cab-details and undercarriage details are there. in fact they can be seen in my new channel 'WideSquareFilms' (Link:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7Tjt-… ). I've also been talking to user 'Scotnick' a lot recently about improving my models with details and he seems to have taken a liking which is greta because I look up to him!

This model also uses BigBenBricks Wheels and Piston Rods which work an absolute charm! Some cutting had to be done to make the undercarriage rods work but it all works very smoothly now!

Hmm, those undercarriage details you refer to - aren't they borrowed from the 0-Gauge model from the TV-Series (the grey technic pins). I can't remember any real engine having something like that.
Oh and how did you obtain the red 1x2 bracket part? Paint? Cutting a 1x4 bracket? As far as I know this part doesn't exist in red yet (see Link ) It looks to me lik you sawed it off
After all this criticism I have to praise you for this new version of Thomas!! Looks much better, the proportions look spot on to my eye. Will you use stickers for applying the livery? Cause I'm still missing some red there
I also thought about using the blue axle/pin to make the wheels all blue, but I didn't really find a solution that wouldn't make much noise or have little friction.
I know I've said it before, but I still can't befriend with the square smokebox and boilerΒ Β

And thanks for mentioning me, but you don't really have to look up to me with your models, I think I already compromised more often on details than you did.
Anyway, great model! Are you using those only to make films, or do you plan to motorize it in any way?Β Β

I had other details but they were removed after looking at side-on photos of the original E2.. Yes, this one has mods from the TV series still which I would like to get rid off, the undercarriage details being one, but also details such as the Side-tank caps being at the end of the tanks instead of the middle, and also the Bunker being designed wrong. Though I did force myself to try out the Thinner Funnel and surprisingly got used to it very fast!

Yes the 1x2 bracket parts were cut 1x4 brackets.. Though in this photo i've got his good angle, as the bracket on his front-left is actually a cut 2x2 Bracket so the cut is underneath (which you can probably see upon inspection). I'd advise this as the other cut brackets have rough edges and don't look as good from the general perspective.

The only reason those axle pieces are blue is because they're not the axle pieces you're think of, but rather are half of the ends.. The undercarriage contains this piece six timesΒ img.brickowl.com/files/image_c… which allows me to have rods beneath which move with the wheels which is the closest to a real locomotive piston design I can manage.

I haven't given up with the round boiler yet though. I've been working in LDD to see what will achieve the best height. And while thats been sorted, details such as the dome are lost. And I also can't see to fix the lower square part of his smoke-box with the mod of a round boiler.Β

But yes thank you I'm glad we're both passionate enough to talk in great detail about this! I probably shan't motorise only because I'm focused on animating and film-making. So motorising the engine just wouldn't be efficient for me.. Thomas here is more of a prop than a toy train for displays etc.
