Just a little something for all the bats out there. T^T
They seem to be one of the most mistreated animals…
This is also a rant from yesterday when my friend, , and I had a little argument with someone on Artgrounds…
Here’s a little something to know: You can not call an animal stupid just because of how it acts. Just because we are intelligent and can create things, it doesn’t mean we are smarter than them. They can do many other things that we couldn’t possibly do.
And yes, the pic I did is of one of the bats in that video.
I’m going to keep on showing the greatness of bats, and the right facts about them.

Bats are so fucking incredible and really, really cute. I just learned a lot about how bats fly the other day, and I’ve got to say, they fly circles around birds in terms of maneuverability. Catch a bird stopping in mid-flight to flip upside down and lightly grab the ceiling, I dare you. I think bats even use 30% less energy in their upstroke because of the way their wings are structured and how they fly. So freaking cool.
You’d think more people would love bats; they are, after all, mammals, and thier wings look a lot like our hands. From a similarity standpoint, we should see more of ourselves in bats than in birds and so like them better. They are warm and soft and tiny, and some have comically adorable, oversized ears. And they eat pesky insects and pollinate flowers!
I guess it’s mostly because they come out at night. The night is scary to us, and so that fear generalizes to anything active in it. They also move fast and erratically, which I guess is startling to people. Still, bats are so sweet and skilled. They deserve more love.

a part of it could be because people think all bats have rabies, even though that's an extremely small amount. Or how "bats will fly into your hair" and the variety of other myths, giving them a bad light.

neither are spiders or chinchillas or sugar gliders o.o or monkeys or snakes or rats....when you think about it, no animal was ever meant to be a pet, we just used them for our own gain. I think the only animal in history ever meant to be a pet was the cat. And not even a pet. They were meant to be worshiped as gods.
I was just gonna get a fruit bat that doesn't know how to survive in the wild, or can't because of a condition....
Actually I'm not even sure I'm gonna get one. I was gonna get an albino snake...

Yeah, bats should only be taken care of if they really can't live on their own or need help to recover... and that has to be by people who know them well, and have a license.
Bats, who can still fly, need to live in the wild so they can use their wings. Bats still should never be as "pets".

She is non-releasable..the wing was broken and torn up so badly that she can't fly. There are NO rehabbers around here who will take bats. I called all around...but bats, like skunks, are often not on the lists of animals they will take, so I learned about it myself. I feel sad for her that she won't fly again..I have had her for a year. I am studying up to get my rehabber's license, and then I hope that Batty can be part of bat education for kids. Once, some kids brought me another bat they had found near a construction site. I cleaned a little paint off his wings, gave him water and a warm place to rest for a day or so. He perked right up, ate a TON of mealworms, and I released him at dusk. Watching him fly away was so cool, but like I said...it made me sad for Batty.

yes, some people really do do that... they are either very scared of them (because of stories and how they look) or find them to be annoying and want them gone/dead. One story about hundreds of bats nesting in a hotel is an example. The owners didn't want them there, and Bat Worls (place for bats) was giving them humane ways of removing them, which took some time.. but then the hotel ordered a power wash to remove them. Hundreds of mothers and their pups died because of that. ><''

agreed animals arent stupid, I mean watch any species, they all have their own little routines for staying alive and getting around. that's not exactly a sign of dumbnes.
I'm mesmorised by the squirrels! little bastards are TOO smart XD put ANYTHING on a bird feeder to stop them getting at it, they'll STILL find a way to get the nuts
