Description
So I wanted handsome boy to have higher skill levels, ergo, lots of little training images! I love tiny shaded ponies, I had an absolute ball with this. Some of the poses were difficult, because they're not poses I normally draw, but that was part of the fun. The actual images don't all occur on the same day, hence the hairstyle changes. I colored in the human before deciding who it would be. And I seriously had fun doing these, I didn't expect to.The three images with saddles will count for skill points towards dressage, the bareback image will count towards dressage as well, and the playing image will count towards confidence because playing is a new thing for Eros.
Story time!

It wasn't uncommon to hear thudding hoofbeats from the indoor arena when the bay doors were open on beautiful days like today. But hearing whatever horse they belonged to at such uneven intervals wasn't quite so normal, which was what had Dean poking his head in, a sleepy-eyed John in tow. He was greeted by an odd sight-- Sebastian, making fake lunges at Eros, who would rear, throw his head up, and race in circles around him before sliding to a stop and repeating the routine.
"What in seven hells are you doing?" Dean asked, startling both Sebastian and Eros on the other side of the half-wall.
"Oh, uh--" Sebastian straighened up, rubbing the back of his neck. Eros seemed to share the sentiment, tossing his head one more time and shuffling closer to bump against Sebastian. "We were playing."
Dean headed through the doorway with John, leaning on the wooden gate. "Oh yeah? Does he know that?"
"Sure he does!" Sebastian almost sounded a little offended. "We've been working for an hour and a half, I figured he could use some time off. And it serves as a reward, anyway. Haven't you ever played afterwards?"
"Only in the paddock when a horse is hard to catch," Dean replied dryly, and Sebastian laughed, holding out a hand for Eros' halter. Dean handed it to him, and he proceeded to slide it over the stallion's ears.
"Well, some horses, playtime like this works as a reward. Some it doesn't. Eros... He loves the attention, and he's got so much energy, he gets a kick out of it. Figuratively, of course," he was quick to add.
"What were you doing, anyway? Like, what kind of work."
"Mostly cues."
"Bareback?" Dean asked, raising his eyebrows.
Sebastian nodded sheepishly. "Normally I work him with full tack. He's really responsive to tiny cues though, super sensitive, you know? So it started as seeing just how sensitive he was, hence bareback. And then it turned into a normal working session, and I'm barely moving at all, and he's picking it all up. And hew as doing such a great job, once we finished I let him run a little bit in here. He enjoyed that," he added with another chuckle. "Then he comes over to me and is snorting and throwing his head like, 'Are you coming or not?' So I walk after him and he takes off, sees I'm not following, and comes back. Rinse and repeat."
"Aren't you worried that will teach him to run from people, thinking it's a game?"
"Nope," Sebastian said simply. "He's more than physically sensitive. He understands when playtime is over," he said, patting the stallion's neck. "But yeah, that's what we've been doing for a few minutes now."
"Makes sense," Dean observed, rubbing John's face when he nosed him. "Wish some of the other boys got that."
Sebastian shrugged with a grin, clipping the lead line to Eros' halter. "You and me both. But hey, Eros is a smart boy, and he's gonna be fantastic once he gets into the show circuit."
"Can't wait to see the two of you get started. You're definitely gonna turn some heads."
