Description "Praying to the gods was no longer enough: I had to become one." - Tosh Raka, the Dragon of Akavir.

Music of the Moment: Can't Stop The Gods (Goran Dragas - ft. Phillipa Michael) - [link]

Viewers, behold: a rare insight into the artistic creative processes of ShoutFinder:
Brain: Let's kick off 2017 art with a bang! How about another attempt at this guy?
Hand: This'll be the fourth or fifth time we've tried...
Brain: Ah, but I've a good feeling about this one. I have a feeling we'll finally nail a standing-on-a-precipice pose, and get through all those stripes!
Hand: Why. WHY did you give him so MANY?! And make them all GLOW?!
Brain: Because, he's a Potunese Emperor of uncounted millenia who remade himself into a god and uplifted his suffering people into a nation that ultimately broke the remaining power of the Dragons in Akavir and have matched the Tsaesci in battle time and time again. HE DESERVES TO HAVE GLOWING STRIPES, DOES HE NOT?!
Hand: ...Fine. I still hate you.
Brain: You can go on strike after we upload this to DeviantArt.

...
Hooray, I finally finished a more draconian concept of everyone's favourite speculated Dragon of the East Land! Enjoy him at your leisure. Or not, depending if you like the design or nay. Here's hoping you do
Just because there are times when I'm way too invested in the mysteries of Akavir.
...

"Ka Po' Tun is the "Tiger-Dragon's Empire". The cat-folk here are ruled by the divine Tosh Raka, the Tiger-Dragon. They are now a very great empire, stronger than Tsaesci... After the Serpent-Folk ate all the Men, they tried to eat all the Dragons. They managed to enslave the Red Dragons, but the black ones had fled to (then) Po Tun. A great war was raged, which left both the cats and the snakes weak, and the Dragons all dead. Since that time the cat-folk have tried to become the Dragons. Tosh Raka is the first to succeed. He is the largest Dragon in the world, orange and black, and he has very many new ideas." - anonymous, excerpt from 'Mysterious Akavir'.

"He is the Sovereign and the Servant, the Power and the Patriarch... He is our Sire, the Father of us All... Exalt him! Cherish him! For from the Frost, from the Snakes, from the murderous Shadow... there is nothing he would not do to protect us." - ancient sermon extracts from the Church of the Living Flame, dated 3033A.A. in Ka Po'Tun reckoning.

"This is no myth. One Dragon remains in Akavir, and he was not born that way. There certainty ends and myth resumes over how the form was attained. The exceedingly patriotic Ka Po'Tun will under questioning insist upon divine intervention, from blessing to prophecy, with frequent reference to Ka; the Master of Motion, Legacy and Eternity, and the fabled god-father of the Po'Tun race. The Tang Mo refer the cause with vehemence to the Primal, the conjunction of the four primordial elements of Akavir, that bred a sentinel to restore balance during the Aeon of the Six Commonwealths and the incredibly destructive War of the Three Empires. My kindred, however, retain our usual healthy skepticism to all that concerns either the primordials we barely understand or the celestials we heartedly despise - we prefer to believe Tosh Raka allowed Fell forces to corrupt his flesh, and in Ka's name sealed a dreadful bargain in order to master death; the one inescapable doom that becomes of all mortals in the end. Only the long-lost Dragons, and Tosh Raka himself, know the truth of the Ascent." - Emperial Senator Galaathakel, from 'A History of Akavir, vII, Chapter V: The Empire of the Sun and Moons'.

"Tosh Raka wanted the gifts, but Akatosh did not care for His bastards. So Tosh Raka, like a true thief of the night, stole the gifts and forced them upon himself. Befouled wyrm. He is no honourable creature." - The Last Daughter of Akatosh.

"It's foolish to deny he has prowess. After all, he has kept his Empire of mortals alive as long as we Empire of immortals have existed. The fact that the cats have endured is testament to the Dragon's power. But do you know why he is so seldom seen, even by his own 'children'? Do you know why in battle our soldiers scour the skies in foolish vain? Because Tosh Raka remembers what our people did to the Dragons, and he fears our Queen Empress and her daughters for remembering how." - His Grace Octaavin-Agusa, Emperor of the Tsaesci Empire.

So shiny 0_0

You continue to outdo yourself, a fact I would not necessarily place against you, but, it is a bother that my favourite of your content is persistently exceeded by something new you produce.

The sun is shining through him... Or so it appears. Whereas Alduin is a being whom fades into Mundas from the shadows, Tosh Raka is touched by light. The dichotomy between East and West is thus taken to Mundas—European dragons were creatures to dread, vermin slain by heroes and knights, monsters. Asian dragons are beings of beauty and grace and wisdom, and they are revered as deities, not beasts. The contrast exists even in Mundas, and I love it. I love his mane, so intricately drawn, his horns, so digressive from the norm, and his stripes, which contain nigh the same glean as that of his eyes. And that orange... It makes me long for some orange juice, but, unfortunately, my household lacks such a treat at the moment.

Due to this focus on Akavir, can I assume that perhaps the Tsaesci may find themselves the victims of your imagination? I can dream...

Oh yes, the shine is real.

D'aw, you're too kind! Er, I think. No, yes, definitely kind! And apologies about the, er, bother

In my headcanon TR is lit from within with an inner furnace that shines out through his striped scales and wings. But with the sun behind him it definitely gives that glow-through effect. And I'm very glad you picked upon the things you did, particularly about Alduin - Akavir is, of course, in the East, so I drew on inspiration from Eastern dragons and it fit TR very well. Also because antler horns hnnng
Beauty, grace and wisdom are most definitely how he depicts himself and the Ka Po'Tun worship him as their holy Father day in day out. And orange... hm, great, now I feel like orange juice and we don't have any either! It's catching!

Yeah, sadly, that's the case. You know me: Don't you dare, work on Tyranny, you've already got a world to build upon!
But...Akavir... ...lore...dragons!!
... damn it.

Oh man, I can’t even begin to convey just how awesome this is. I love the dragon’s design, and I can see inspiration from Eastern dragons — such as that magnificent golden mane, tail, gracefully slender horns, and little dragon goatee — mixing with the typical Western dragon style, which I think is awesome. I love all the details you put into his design, especially the glowing stripes (and with the background info you’ve given, I agree that he deserves them!), that glorious wingspan, and the sunlight shining from behind him. I’m glad you went through the trouble of drawing them. Tosh Raka here on his precipice is certainly a sight to rival even Monster Hunter’s White Fatalis atop his ancient tower, in my opinion.

If I can say one thing about this, it’s that you’ve certainly nailed the “standing on a precipice and looking awesome” pose here. Great work! Your artistic talent is enviable as always. Especially to someone who has little of it himself

Whoo, thanks a million! I definitely drew on Eastern dragons for reference, they're just so goshdarned gorgeous.
White Fatalis? Hm, I'll have to google that one.

Aaaah, look at him! He's so incredibly awesome! And the SPL is at work again, because he looks very like my idea for him - but glowing stripes? That, I did not think of, and it is incredible. Absolutely incredible. This is such a beautiful piece of artwork. That beautiful golden mane, those slender horns and wings, both alike and unalike our those of the sturdy dov we know from Skyrim. And wow, that burst of sunlight behind him just really completes the picture. Those shafts of light are gorgeous. And I adore the rich green of those trees around him... I know you no doubt have your own dwelling place for Raka in your story, but this really could be his Mountain Throne from Divine Blood.
A really lovely piece of art, and one that intrigues me even more to find out what your theories for him are!

Thankyouuuuuu! I wondered how much SPL would come out of this one, hehe
I do... of a sort... and it does involve a mountain... but I wouldn't call it a throne. Hm, I really should have another reread of that prologue at some point. I'm excited to see what your Tosh Raka is up to with the Dragonborn's daughter's son Khavir... Kavir... Akavir... o__o

I really want to see your concept of the Emperor now. Make me jealous of your biro sketching powers once again!!

I still can't believe that I managed to call him Khavir without even realising the Akavir link. I'll have to make that a running joke in the story.
I have a great many WIPs on the go, but I'm pretty sure Tosh Raka shall be among them sooner or later...

And hey, good news - I have ESO at last! A journal about my new characters is coming up in a little while.

What's your name there? I am Akonarik - like the dragon priest mask, but with an extra A and no H. I shall have to add you as a friend - if you're on the NA server, that is (which is where I placed my characters, since my other ESO-playing friends' OCs are on there.)
The Nose Diver achievement? Do explain.

Over there I am ShoutFinder (I know, you'd never have guessed), and I shall definitely keep an eye out for Akonarik, since I am most 100% definitely on the NA server

Hm, well, you die from a nose. Er, dive.
If you're heading on soonish I will head on soonish and join you and take you to the nose for your unofficial initiation into ESO

I shall add you ASAP!
Time zones are going to be our enemy, I suspect, but rest assured, we shall travel together soon enough! I could try to be online early tomorrow morning, about 8.30am GMT; that's be around the same time in the evening for you, I think? *quickly runs off to check time zone map*
