Description
This was the second most wanted tutorial in my last poll. I'm still pretty uncomfortable with my knowledge of creating backgrounds so I decided to do this one first.Please excuse any typos. If you point them out to me, I'll go back and edit them when I can.
This was the really basic summary of how I go about my drawings. It's the same steps I take when working on Wolf Song and my other web comics.

Thank you! I'm glad it's been helpful ! I honestly felt like it was kinda short and pointless while I was making it
. I see these crazy long tutorials that are uber detailed and I get intimidated @_@;

I see these crazy good drawings (even from you), and I get intimidated. That's mainly why I don't draw, I have no confidence since many people are better than I am.

I feel the same way when I look at the most popular page on DA. I feel really amateur when I see that kind of artwork @_@;...
I guess what gets me through are the nice comments I get. I feel inspired to make more pages and art knowing that there are people that like my work regardless of my skill level. I personally think you should keep at drawing c:. The more you practice, the more confident you'll become in your abilities and the more you improve.

Yeah, I know I should, but when I draw something, it looks like a newbie on here drew it (I am a newbie), and then I just trash it. Maybe I should stick to programming. xP

Thank you ! I've gotten the dreaded style lock before which is why I recommend artists try realism and then create a style of their own. If you can draw an anatomically accurate wolf, then you can draw a disney/anime/cartoony/etc. wolf. I draw in my style all the time, but when people diss me for changing proportions, anatomy or details, I pull up one of my wolf study sketches and say "what now son?" lol.
It's just good to be well rounded if you want a career in art. and it only took me 3 years to figure that out lol

Yea i think i should try a go at realism. and im going to have to keep alot of papers around with me to keep drawing wolves and sketches of anatomy. i do see your point into then making a cartoony wolf after which makes alot of sense. but yea it is good to be rounded in art. eventhoughidontthinkimgoingtohavemuchofacareerinart lol

Realism can be fun once you get the hang of it. I just love detail work cause it feels much more satisfying when you finish ! It was actually a Disney animator who told me to study realism first. In fact, Lady and Tramp were originally referenced from real dogs the studio adopted (and the real "Tramp" was a girl lol). You defiantly have the attitude to be an artist, and that's half the battle
!
Good luck with your studies ! Feel free to link me if you post them :3!
