Haha I had to ask my friend what they were at first, I had no idea.
Adoptables are like pre made designs that you can buy from another deviant. Say if you want a cool design for a character in your story or comic, but you're running a bit low and creative juice... An easy way is to just buy an adoptable. And you don't have to buy them for a specific purpose, you could see a design you like and think 'omfg I WANT THAT.' A Lot of people are like that, they just buy adoptables and don't use them (which is a bit silly to me.)
However, be careful when you buy one because sometimes the rules can be a bit strange. This isn't like an official thing on DA, so it's entirely up to the maker or the buyer how things are done.
Now for the payment method... Most of the time it's in DA points. A reasonable price for one would be between 10 to 50 points I think, but sometimes you'll find that people are selling them for 100 or even 200 hundred points, which I find a bit ludicrous. But that's just my opinion I guess.
Other payment methods include actual money (most of the time it's in USD because the majority of people on this site are american, I'm not though so I don't use that method.) Most of the time an adoptable will be like 1 to 10 dollars. Sometimes you'll see a DTA or a 'draw to adopt'. Thats basically a contest to see who draws the adoptable better, whoever wins gets the adoptable. There are other ways aswell but it's not hard to figure out xD
Although sometimes you'll see an adopt thats just so simplistic, I don't really know how people can put a copyright on it... I've seen some designs before that aren't very imaginative but are going for like 100 points. Yet people are still buying them....

Also, can I also request something? Like when Sexy Spirit meets the dragons before everything, I reckon he should maybe help create a little brother or something from your two dragons. So The little brother is one of Sexy Spirits 12 gods, and your two dragons are the gods of hello and goodbye. Does that make sense?
