This is my submission to 's contest!

I was assigned an alien environment as my inspiration, so my design process immediately wanted to play into multiple factors: Common aliens portrayed in movies, a dangerous chemical, and influence within our own solar system. The type of alien I chose was the Bodysnatcher. These aliens are commonly shown taking over the body of their victims in many different ways, such as through a parasite, through telekinetic powers, or even by engulfing them in a liquid. My inspiration came from the latter. I then knew I wanted to base my Fakemon off of Mercury, a toxic liquid metal. Unox begin their life cycles having control over a strange metal, but as it grows stronger so does the mercury-like life form. After evolution the mercury has taken over the Corpusurp's head unit and it acts under its own will and loses most of its feelings it had as a Unox. The planetary influence I chose was the planet Mercury, to tie in with its liquid-metal body. Unox is shaped like the symbol that means mercury, and Corpusurp's head is shaped like the 'head' of the symbol. These pokemon thrive on an alien planet where toxic chemicals are abundant so they have adapted to make good use of them, but they started to appear on Earth around the same time Elgyem, Beheeyem, Lunatone, and Solrock were spotted. It is not known how they arrived here, however. They can learn a variety of stat/status/entry hazard moves as well as attacks which makes them very unpredictable in battle. They are able to learn a variety of psychic type attacks due to their strong telepathic connection with the mercury. Unox's lower half is not a stick body with stubby arms, but prongs that emit a magnetic signal used for controlling the metal. It lacks arms but it can use the liquid as pseudo-arms, as pictured above. It is usually more covered up but I decided to draw most of it's body sticking out so you could see what was under the mercury. Corpusurp does not have the prongs after evolution.

I am very pleased with my entry for this contest as it came to me so naturally and I was able to be inspired enough to work (I have a problem with lack of inspiration). I believe it is a solid and well-thought out concept that is supplemented by artistic ability that is growing with every piece I create.
