Selph:Selph is a missing/deleted boss from the game NiGHTS into Dreams. a while ago hacker peeps found a data slot in the files along with Reala and Jackle. his/her file was directly before 'WISEDMAN' which is wiseman.
Selph's theme is 'Know Thyself' which is considerably similar to NiGHTS's theme. also, a mirror-staff texture was found in his/her file. these things (including the title of his/her song) have led alot of people to believe that Selph was basically fighting yourself.
I'm guessing s/he was either omitted because the Reala battle would be too similar, or SEGA just ran outa time. ):

Actually, to clarify somewhat, I have done a lot of research on this (as I have sort of a vested interest in the character) and my understanding of the game data involved, as well as the "hints" like the MORE NiGHTS stamp and the staff data, was that most of it was actually disconnected. In other words, there wasn't any mirror staff, but there was a staff. The stamp was a bit of concept work that leaked. And most importantly, there wasn't an eighth boss data slot. What we found in the data was actually the "wingman" NiGHTS copy that fights Wizeman along with the player. It loads WISEDMAN and SELPH at the same time, because there needs to be one more AI control than in the other boss battles.
Though admittedly some of this is speculation, so please do take it as such and if you really want to know for sure, do the research like I did and draw your own conclusions!

Yeah, there's a lot of contradictory stuff floating around, mainly due to the fact that not much has officially been said about it. People get left up to their own devices and just make stuff up, then that gets mixed into the little that we do know for certain about it. Like I said, I speculate a bit myself, but I do try to make it clear when I'm inserting my own ideas, if for no other reason than to avoid perpetuating that confusion.

I found it interesting to hear that Sega actually got rid of Selph because they thought the game was "perfect" enough without another boss/level ^^

Interesting. Well, that's pretty believable. With Mario 64 rearing around the corner. Also they had an unfortunate tendency to rush things :/ But I still think Sega's awesome

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! This charater looks epic and i was looking up game music because (im such a NiGHTS fan) because i was bored and i thought the theme sounded great and when i looked at the below thing i was like "WHAT A NEW CHARATER THAT WAS NOT ADDED!?!?! WTH" at least it should have been in the new game! and and and Wahhhh TT-TT Its so cute.....
