Tried drawing him slightly different then I normally would...Anyway, it seems that the popular consensus on why Jazz wears a visor is because he has bad eyesight or is blind. I don't buy that.
So one day me and a friend were coming up with reasons he wears a visor (that don't have to do with bad eyesight) and developed a pretty long list. But then we came up with one reason that just stuck in my head and I had to get it down.
I'll let you guys interpret this image on your own. The possibilities are endless!
Also I really wanted to draw Jazz with red eyes just because it's cool.

I have a fan explanation for transformer eyes, They can change the color, The reason some many autobots have blue eyes is because optimus has them.

Jazz, don't worry! A lot of my femme OCs have strangely-colored optics too! Please don't feel bad! I also have one femme OC who covers her face completely because of a multitude of scars on her face! She has silver optics! I have femmes with gold optics, green optics, dark blue optics, light blue optics, orange optics, and turquoise optics! Soon, I'll even have one with red optics! I think that he was lower class. You see Blaster being like "I DJ" but people also think Jazz as the DJ dude. I bet Blaster was a higher-class DJ and Jazz always dreamed of being one but he couldn't because he was lower class.

Wasn't the Decepticon campaign originally about the injustice of the classes and the council being corrupt? that sounds like something Jazz would be against so maybe he originally was an con and changed sides when they started showing their true colors.

OMG His optics hold such sorrow...it makes me want to cuddle him so much!!!! I've heard a theory of him having red eyes and thought it interesting, but I have never seen it till now. You did a really good job, personally I think he looks epic with the crimson optics. Maybe he hides the red optics behind a blue visor because he's scared of what the others will think. There's the saying, "An idiot hides his sorrow in his eyes, a genius in his smile", for a reason. Maybe he follows it. After all, those optics are very expressive.

See, I just assumed some Transformers just have visors for eyes. I mean, if some of them can talk without mouths, then having a visor in place of normal optics isn't that weird.
Or heck, he just wore the visor all the time because he thought it looked cool (with the bonus affect of being able to look at other things when he has to listen to something he's heard a hundred times without obviously looking bored).

either a)he was originally intended to be a decepticon but became an autobot instead, b)he is a low-class cybertronian who's embarrassed about where he came from or c)he originally had blue optics but had them replaced when he got damaged or blinded

while the towers people and higher ups ( like mirage, prowl and Prime) are born with good quality optics (blue)
the lower class slave/labour workers like gladiators and pleasure-bots have cheap, used, recycled optics (red) to tell the classes apart.

I dont think he was born a con. I think he had a mission, on which he was captured and tortured. they then replaced his blue optics with red....but that's just me...

Oh wow! Very interesting theory! I think that he probably was born a Decepticon but didn't agree with their programming, so to protect himself against the decepticons and to keep his secret from the Autobots, he wears the visor. I mean imagine what would happen if both sides found out his secret!

I agree with the whole "he's not blind/nearsighted" thing. Jazz would have to have a better reason, though, to hide his pwetty optics
Only thing, why'd you settle on Decepticon? Red, I mean. I know that's what most people choose when it comes to Jazz's secret optic color, but I'm curious. Personally, I go for an obnoxious-highlighter-yellow, but I can't explain that here
