Description
The four of them got into the car, which had already been modified to take a considerable amount of extra weight to carry such large passengers such as the O'shane. However the uncomfortable metallic creaking and the whole car leaning to one side made Bridgette feel uncomfortable so much so she looked round at Riley who was sitting behind her in the back."Riley my dear, do you mind switching seats with your sister? The car can't take both of us on the same side."
Riley grumble a bit as she had to undo her seatbelt witch took her a minute to put on due to her large frame and after the she swapped seats with her Eliza the leaning difference was only a few centimetres.
As the four of them parked up and started walking towards the town hall, they saw the massive crowds of press outside of it, taking pictures of all the guests that went in to the building, a red carpet had also been rolled out.
"Alright everyone, best behaviour, " she said, though knew Rupert would have no problems with that however her daughter where a different matter.
“Ok so I will take questions form the press, you three can slip on in” Rupert put forward as a suggestion knowing that many questions aimed at the O'shanes would be about there questionable activities.
And so they entered the town hall as Rupert diverted the attention onto himself, and Bridgette tried to ignore the tightness around her belly, she felt her previous meals squeezed up next to all the other organs fighting for room.
The hall was packed with the highest of the class, all talking in groups, Champagne in hand. There was a buffet table at the back with minimal but fancy food on it with an swan ice sculpture as a centrepiece.
In the middle of the hall was a massive charity dish which was filled with high amounts of cash and checked donations.
Bridgette avoided the buffet table still feeling the corset digging into her waist, unlike Riley who lit up as soon as she saw it and made a beeline straight for it slightly pushing through other guests if they were in her path. Instead choosing to talk with others or add to the charity dish.
"Ah miss O'shanes welcome! Thank you for the donation." A small older male voice said.when Bridgette looked down see where the voice had come from she saw an old badger in a waistcoat and bow tie. Bridgette new this man, he was the host of the party, he was the mayor.
"Aye, no trouble, it's the least I could do for the invitation, " she smiled a bit. Their height difference was even more obvious than with most people, towering over him like a building, it was hard not to bend down when talking to him.
"I see, well I'm glad you have come tonight, I have reviewed your submission for the placement at city hall, It does look most promising but just a few rumours about your family has put a few people off the idea of letting you become a Council member but there just rumours after all."
"Ah, well that's no matter, I can do the job just fine. So, how's the event been going, so far? " Bridgette asked to change the subject.
"Everyone has arrived now so far, we are all here in the name of helping our community, we will be announcing a few awards and revealing the new staff for Town hall this evening so I guess you should talk around of all the people here as they maybe you new work colleagues, and also I see your eldest has found the buffet table..."
"Sounds good " She looked over to Riley piling on quite a bit. "Aye, I can be that way on occasion, but I've had quite enough today. .."
" are well I'm sure you find some room later on, haha" looking back over at Riley who had just put a whole lobster in her mouth and sucked the meat out of the shell.
By the way where's your Business partner Rupert?
"I last saw him being hounded by the press that wasn't already busy, hehe"
"Ah, yes probably asking him about his new restaurant and new shops he has recently opened."
She nodded along, ignoring the occasional creak or gurgle form her mid section.
"So, I hope you are at lest thirsty as the drinks are making rounds, a glass of Champagne Miss Bridgette?
"Aye, that sounds wonderful, " she sighed. Perhaps it would merely fill the cracks.
She felt it gurgle a bit as she gulped. And the fizz sliding down her throat into her over stuffed and compacted stomach was a tense feeling but seemed to be within the corset's limits.
Eliza walked over to Bridgette and started whispering into her ear,
" Mother? We have a problem, Riley has gone up for thirds and the buffet table is looking empty. Riley has probably forgotten we aren't on our property." She said with worry on her face.
Bridgette sighed and walked over. "Riley, dear, leave some for everyone else, you can always get more after we leave. "
" Grrrrrrr!!!! but it's so good, *munch* I want more, * URP* Rupert didn't let me eat cos he thought I would be like how you are now! Hehe, he can't keep an eye on you I'ver can he?"
Riley than prodded Bridgette waist "I don't think he could have got the corset on me though!" She added.
"Raghallach," Bridgette said in a more stern tone. "Not now. This is a serious outing, we're not here to glut. "
" I know ma, but your the one getting the job, and you got it in the bag pretty much, what can go wrong? Here have a mini meat pie."
"I know, " Bridgette sighed. "But I don't want to take any chances. " She looked at the pie. ..it was small. "...I guess just one. " Nomf!
"By the way, Rupert is over there with a bunch of other town hall officials mady use should show them who going to be the boss of em soon ey?" Riley pointed to a crowd of people chatting an laughing loudly.
*Gulp. Urp!*
"Mn, should probably talk to them anyway. ," to which Bridgette headed over, taking a small plate with another pie on it with her.
" And that's how I got into the restaurant industry " laddie was making small talk with other guests, they all seem interested in his story's, " ha ha and here comes my partner but I guess you know her already, as she has been in town far longer than me."
"Aye, that I am!" Bridgette said. As if It wasn't easy to miss such a tall lady, the O'shanes had been known for generations. "And that's easy when I'm a native And he's not, heh. .."
"Well Irish or not, I find the people over her far more agreeable than where I cam from, and I found good company over here so why not set up shop here?" He put an arm around Bridgette lower waist, if he reached up any higher and it would just look to awkward.
"Aye, it works out well! "Bridgette smiled taking a small bite out of the pie on her plate.
*snap!*
Bridgette was scared for a moment, but quickly hid the emotion. Her stomach pushed out just a little, and she hoped No one noticed.
