Really they're not. I have my lip pierced on the left side, bottom, and plan on getting the right side bottom done too. It's not that bad. It's a really quick pinching pain then that's it! :3 tattoos are a little worse though (also depends on where you get piercings and tattoos too! Some areas are way more painful than others.)
