I think this is gorgeously well done! Detailing is all right for the composition, well balanced, focusing on the important parts. The snake feels alive, having substance, very well captured, probably exaggerating the features, but it is fine for conveying it. My only problem is something I think rather an unfortunate choice than an actual defect. At first glance, and even at second, it comes through as if the top of the snake's head was on the right, the visible eye being on the right side. It looks off. I want to comment that this is all awesome, expect for that the head somehow doesn't feel right for a snake. Then upon third look I realize what I am seeing is the top of the snake's head, not the right side. It is correctly drawn as far as I can tell, the only problem truly being the choice of angles, that the brain first tries to interpret the image the simplest manner, assuming a sideways view, not expecting that the snake also twisted his neck towards the viewer. Correcting such is likely about trying to set up the pose slightly differently to prevent the brain capturing it the wrong way. Nevertheless it is an interesting composition, well done at that!

Probably your brain just doesn't see it that way as you know very well how it is meant to look like. What I saw until a careful observation was as if the line of the mouth on the right (the left side of the snake's face) was the top of the skull, and the actual top of the skull, the shading on the left (right side of the snake's head) was the line of the mouth, with the part further to the left being a massive jawbone. Somewhat dinosaur-like head proportioning. I can still see it either way depending on how I focus on it. Either as it was intended, a fine snake head, or this strange robust dino-like reptilian head which I first saw. The effect is the same like these types of optical illusions (whether you see a cube or three tetrahedrons is only a matter of how you look at it).

Oh, I get it now. A few people saw me doing this and noone mentioned it looking like that at first, but I guess it happens
