The queen loves all her children...save one: her successor. For to a queen, any other queen, whether kin or not, means one thing: competition.Lest the mother kills the child, the new queen is therefore removed from the mother hive as quickly as possible. A small escort of workers is given to her, to nurture and care for her until she is fit to rule and expand the new hive.
Most queens never meet their parent, which - given their naturally aggressive territorial behaviour - is a good thing.Β The pheromone mix alone - familiar, yet different - is enough to make most queens fly into a minor frenzy.

that just seems........... counter productive. like enormously counterproductive. natural aggression to what is carrying on your genes is not even an animal behavior. it just............. makes no sense at all. it would seem that it is a near gurantee a queen wil ljust crush any egg she lays that is another queen. in other words the likes of miasma and even myxine would not exist under normal circumstances........ and there is nothing in the hive that will counter a queen's intention to commit infanticide.

I think the Queen is probably very exhausted physically and magically,Β unable to move after the birth of a new queen, giving a small gap of time, enough so that the subjects can take the egg from the new queen and take it away.

why would they though? she would want to kill the child, and the drones are forced to obey her wishes after all.

New Queen means there has to then be an Old Queen, and I'm guessing changelings don't believe in comfy retirement of those who no longer have a purpose in the hive.

Those never tire me XD I love how you make the way how changeling behave XD Im making my own type in story I work on have own ways as well and trying not to get too similar to yours. Also I did miss your changeling drawings a lot
