Description
...who are emotion vampires.
So yeah, re-imagining humanized changelings in a more bug-like way. Regular elves are all fun and games, but this probably fits my personal headcanons and the hive aspect in general more. I like weird mouth structures.

There's another artist on deviantart who does bug humanoids. Do you know of anybody else? Was trying to find them, came across this.

I like the head though - those mandibles remind me of Blade 3

I always assumed the hostile alien cockroach with a taste for human flesh and a sporting love of genocide was also an extreme yoga enthusiast.
Because, y'know, everyone needs a hobby!

Ha! If yoga can get you to squeeze something that's 3 sizes a normal person's head into...well, a normal person's head, perhaps I should start it too. Then I'd only have to get someone to manufacture a Brad Pitt costume...

Have you ever heard of the Elves of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series? Now that you compare elves and Changelings together, the similarities between the two are surprising, but interesting.

Aye, I've read the book. And if we go by traditional folklore, changelings are faerie folk anyway.

Oh, is that where the DHX drew inspiration for the changelings? I knew changelings had to have SOME sort of mythological basis, but I didn't know it came directly from faeries.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Siansaar In reply to The-Bloody-Bishop [2014-10-28 03:53:19 +0000 UTC]
Well, traditional changelings were "just" faerie folk (that is to say, fairies, elves, trolls etc. you know, woodland spirits) that were swapped for a human child in the crib.
So either DHX just expanded the concept from there or simply thought that the method of operation was similar enough to warrant the name.

The-Bloody-Bishop In reply to Siansaar [2014-10-28 04:19:12 +0000 UTC]
Ah, that's cool! I wonder if the DHX staff would confirm the reasoning behind the name? Probably not~

You'd have to ask them on twitter
Rebecca Dart in particular, since she apparently designed them .

Have them stand more vertically and I'm sold. Not a big fan of the legs either, but they do seem like they could work, kind of, so it's fine.
Love what you did with the mouth, I tried to do that before but failed miserably by making it overly complicated.
I also love how fleshy the body looks beneath the wings.

Marvelous work here I almost see this as a very fitting (somewhat) humanized rendition of the Changelings. How even in a humanized context, they'd still be a very alien-like species
I also love that you used Chrissy's designs for this, recognizing those mesmerizing eyes
My fave part, however, has to be the way you drew the jaws ^^

An obvious inspiration with beautiful Chrysalis. It's a strange mix of cuteness and beauty with creepiness... Beautiful hair and eyes, and kinda scary body and mouth. Still, great work! ^^

That was my second idea, but the first one - which I'll probably go with - is that she has a mutation which has split the two mandibles into four, leaving a little gap inbetween. The only challenge will be to ignore all the "Predator" references
