they were the first army i got around to making (wanted a high point, straight forward army for money purposes at the time. eldritch robot zombies just called to me

necrons arent as much of robot zombies as much as they are space mummies. think about it. they all live in tombs, lords (especially old model) looks kinda like a pharoh, they got tons of hieroglyphics, and their main vehicle is a pyramid

Aiming around skin can be hard, espacially when the stuff behind the skin is usually metal. Besides, shoot the skin off and it looks like any other robot.

I noticed that people dont make the flayed flesh bloody, it would look way scarier with the blood droping from them indicating the victim is fresh.

Ah, Necrons. They were the bane of my Blood Angels when I used to collect a good few years ago. Them and Tyrannids used to royally ruin my day. Nothing quite like having either a carnifex or a the wonderous hovering-fortress-of-doom (read as Monolith) in amongst your forces.... *shudder*
Anyway, great piece of fanart. The digital painting style really works well and the textures and ambience do it great justice. I also like how you slightly blurred the foreground Imperial Guard officer and the Flayed Ones in the background to bring attention to the assalaint. Great work. Keep it up.

I painted and modded a few necron/chaos models but never had the chance to play any actual games :/ closest i've gotten is dawn o war, but i still can't help but read through a codex or two. Thanks for the kind words.
