Why do I put so much effort into something that isn't going to get me any effort points D:

1. Ry's parents, Camila and Eirik, are very much in love with one another. <33 Cam's a mostly-light mix with some Shire thrown in, and Eirik is pure draft.
2. "Poor vision" my foot -- he's blind as a mole in his left eye, and getting his balance and depth perception back up to snuff has been a big challenge for him. He still struggles with it, especially over uneven terrain... which is all of Onea, tbh. He's a big aloof prick, so he doesn't have much in the way of friends, but he's also incredibly loyal and a bit of an animal in a scuffle; he's definitely a horse you'd want fighting on your side rather than against it.
3. While he certainly respects the other gods, he worships only Kaia.
4. His home is... cozy. Sort of. It's got three walls and a roof (even though two of those walls are just tarps lashed to the wood), and there's a massive fireplace in the back that puts out a ton of heat. When snow comes at it from just the right angle, it gets inside, so Rylan has a third tarp stashed in the corner that he puts up to keep it out. It's a good thing he's a furnace himself, or he'd probably freeze during the winter. Things do get rather cold as it is.
5. It's hard enough keeping his own ass safe, the last thing Rylan needs is a familiar to worry about. Perhaps he'll find himself saddled with something unintentionally, but there is no way that he'll buy an animal companion.
6. Rylan holds a lot of respect for War Lord Hira. Not only is she an intelligent mare fighting to survive in stallion's world, she is small and getting on in years and she still knows how to take a horse down. As for the herd, well... Rylan can't say he loves the individuals, most of whom annoy him, but he does feel a great deal of loyalty and affection for it on a whole.
7. He recognizes the usefulness of blessings, but harbors a visceral fear of magic that has sharpened into hate over the years. He does not want to be blessed. He does not want to be around others who are blessed. If one of the gods were to grant him their power, it would test his mental and emotional strength like little else could.
