Description A fun halloween themed pic for my room #237 at the Dark-Arts-Asylum .... They are currently running a contest for all of their members to submit an image that best sums up their room interior. Lots 'o fun!

I recentley got a book on halloween nostalgia and have been inspired to draw something with that feel to it. I like how the little cat guy and the little witch came out.

I'll have to find that. Who is the author?

Al Sarrantonio. He has a book out, "Toybox" that is full of short stories with some of the best and most creative monsters. It's one of my favourites ^^ [link] d_bbs_b_2_1/002-9762910-2322414?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

I love old halloween stuff^^ One day when i have more money I'm going to collevt all the old paper mache lantersn and stuffs. As for this drawing, I want it painted on the cealing so it is the last thing that I see when I g o to sleep and the first thing I see when i wake. i know it will put me in a good mood! I love the ghost he's my favorite part. Can he be my special friend?

That picture totally kicks ass man, reminds of Halloween of 97 when my mom got a lot of halloween decoration from the 1960's and decked out the house. I think We wound up doing a mixed them of halloween and christmas that year.

We've been best friends since college since '92 or something like that. We both shared our monsters with each other and been best pals ever since.

His new Viper stuff looks cool!

Man, that's awesome.

I only completed my freshman year, but I learned so much just being in that enviroment and trying new things. I LOVED IT.

I tried continuing at a local college here in Texas, but it just wasn't the same.

I spent most of my time in the basement level of the dorms where I lived and the monthly trip to Used Kids.

Yea, I actually liked going to school there but I hated freshman year. 2D design, Lettering and all that stuff. I only letter on the computer, I will NEVER use guache to letter anything! Good times.

cyclonaut In reply to sideshowmonkey [2006-01-11 19:32:21 +0000 UTC]

HAHA... Guache...

Yeah, if I never mount and wrap anything again, it will be fine by me.

sideshowmonkey In reply to cyclonaut [2006-01-11 20:01:49 +0000 UTC]

Oh yea, I hated that. IDid you take 2D design where you had to cut out a million squares out of chroma paper. Man that was a pain.

cyclonaut In reply to sideshowmonkey [2006-01-11 20:35:33 +0000 UTC]

HAHAHA! Oh yeah... I had to make a book out of it.

Hella lame.

sideshowmonkey In reply to cyclonaut [2006-01-12 03:59:41 +0000 UTC]

It sure was. That class probably hit me the hardest, I couldn't really focus and try to learn anything because they throw you in head first with those things. That probably isn't bad, it's either sink or swim, but when all your classes do that you can't help but slack off a little in all of them just to finish in time. Crazy times indeed.

Yea! I didn't know that. I graduated around that time and then moved out to LA to work at Sony Television.

I took pretty much all of Botts and Hazelrigs classes and spent most of my time in the 3D illustration lab. Good times.

Cool! That Ghost kicks ass; it's nice to see a slightly varied ghost from the formulaic "looks a bit like Ghostface from Scream" style spook.

I miss those old big wheels. Every time I see one I think of the Shining and the souond it makes when it goes over the carpet.

I read in an interview with Stephen King that in one of the editions of The Shining novel, (I think he said it was the first edition but don't quote me on that) the scene in room #237, by pure chance, ended up being printed on page #237 of the book. Supposedly this wasn't planned, as the scen appeared on a different page in his original manuscript, and 237 was simply a random number that he picked out of thin air. But changes in the spacing (manuscripts are always typed double-spaced while books are printed single-spaced), plus the size of printed text (always smaller and more compact than manuscript typeface) naturally caused some shuffling of the page numbers (as it always does) and by coincidence, the scene in Room #237 ended up on page 237. Freaky, huh!?
