"Release me. Now." the alien's voice demanded as it used Dr. Deverich as it's mouthpiece, one of its tentacles connected to the doctor's spine. Elizabeth cautiously approached the glass, faintly hearing her husband saying "Beth, please be careful." She and the alien locked eyes, Elizabeth noting the lack of pupils, or any emotion, within them. Still, it was capable of understanding them. Perhaps it could be reasoned with, even end this attack.

Approaching the glass, she asked the being "Why have your people come here? To our planet?"

A momentary pause and Deverich spoke, the alien's voice mixed in with his own. "Air... water... your "sun," " it replied.

"Where do your kind come from?" The alien didn't respond, merely tilted its head. Elizabeth rephrased the question. "Where is your home?"

"Here... now," it answered.

"And where was your home before here?"

"Many worlds..." That response made everyone in the room feel uneasy. Elizabeth paused to process the information, before thinking on how to proceed. After a few moments, she spoke. "As children of this universe, I believe there is much our races can learn from each other. If we can only negotiate a truce. Surely there must be room for us to coexist." She paused again before asking "Can there be a peace between us?"

"Peace?" The alien asked as it looked at her, seeming to process her words before responding with "No peace." The room seemed to grow colder with that reply. Elizabeth looked at her husband, taking a deep sigh before looking back at the alien and asking "Then what do you want us to do?"

The alien seemed to stare right into her eyes with its own soulless looking ones, Elizabeth feeling a small tingling sensation in her brain as it answered: "Die..."

This is an idea for the reboot of my personal Godzilla series, this one being called GODZILLA: Earth Defense Directive, originally titled as Godzilla Invasion. Been watching Independence Day and Independence Day Resurgence the past couple of days and they've been some major inspiration for this story, at least as far as some things go. The aliens, simply referred to as the Invaders in my story, are similar to the Harvesters from Independence Day, but they're not gonna just be carbon copies. Took some inspiration from the scene in ID4 where President Whitmore attempts to vie for peace between Earth and the aliens, but also using ID4 screenplay as well which had this scene as being longer initially before it was scaled back for, what I assume to be, time's sake. In this situation, the U.S. President is an OC named Elizabeth Ford, the first female president in US history in my series.
