Description
Hey guys! I figured it's been a looong while since I've done anything Transformers related, so I did this little pieceA rivalry that has been ongoing for quite some time now. Shockwave and Grimlock: The Decepticon Scientist vs The Dinobot Leader. While I am using the Bayverse designs, you can't argue this rivalry makes as much sense as Optimus and Megatron. In my headcannon withe movie TF designs, Shockwave's relationship with Grimlock and the Dinobots is the same as it was in Fall of Cybertron. The Dinobots look the way they do because Shockwave redesigned their dinosaur modes to make them look even fiercer. And the rest they say... is history.
Let me know what you think as always guys

So, who created the Dinobots? Shockwave or Wheeljack?

Depends on which verison of the Transformers universe you look into
In G1 it was Wheeljack
InΒ Animated it was Megatron
In the Prime Universe it was Shockwave.
In my version I go with Shockwave doing like he did in Fall of Cybertron: he takes Grimlock and his friends apart and puts them back together as dinosaurs.

Interesting, in Escalation Shockwave basically ripped them open multiple times (without putting them in stasis), took multiple CNA samples and created the Predacons. The experience left the Dinobots scarred and Grimlock with (SPOILERS). I'll tell you in that note I sent you.

Funny enough: this rivalry was also present in IDW, as well....sort of. TO put it simply: he humiliated them by disrupting one of their raids involving an energon cache. Grimlock especially was steamed about it. SO when Shockwave began preparations for his "Dark Cybertron" Ore harvests, the LCS followed him. The trip led to earth, during the end of the ice age caused by the energon influx. The Dinobots took on beast forms to prevent energon build-up(beast wars reference) and they tried to fight him. Only problem was-he got angry. And we all know what happens when Shockwave gets angry. It all ended with the Dinobots beaten, and Shockwave being buried in magma because of Grimlock's contingency. But the rivalry pretty much ends in Maximum Dinobots, or whatever the story's name was, because Grimlock disappears after that. But yeah: i do definitely see their rivalry. Especially in the TFP comic series. Kinda wish it could be played off of more, though.

Yes I've read all those comics And they really did great in flushing out the rivalry between Grimlock and Shockwave

Indeed. Especially with the fact, Shockwave came back for Grimlock, specifically. All because he realized that Grim held the most potential for the transformation process......albeit with the belief that removing his mind would make him more efficient as a weapon. But the showdown with him was awesome, and it was also pretty frickin' cool to see him take a page from Dr. Doom. Evil scientists always must observe from a distance for their own safety, after all.

Shockwave: I siphoned energy from your cereberal processors to push additional power to more combat related functions. Frankly I'm amazed you can talk. 98.6% of your redesign is dedicated to the total destruction of your enemies.
Grimlock: Lucky you.

And Grim also has a face underneath what was revealed to be a mask. Fancy that. Imagine my surprise when i saw that, before i remembered that now every masked transformer has a face. It's what makes them as close to human as possible.....except for the Empurata victims. Β

Yeah though I kinda didn't like that he had a face. That was something that just bugged me a bit but that's more or less just a nitpick

Well, they don't take off their masks for long, so it's at least not a MAJOR issue.

Of course i do. I tried making it seem obvious, but i guess that's my own fault. But considering it's Transformers related, then of course i'm gonna like it. Especially when it focuses on existing topics in the franchise.

Crosshairs: Durin' all those cycles it took to get to Earth, all I could think about was gettin' our band of bothers back together. *looks over to Magnus* But THIS isn't the lineup I had in mind. You did the smart thing Hound, leaving the Wreckers when you did. While we were still bringing our A-game.... before the rust set in.
Tim: Wait, I thought Crosshairs was the one who left the Wreckers?
(Hope you don't mind me using you for this buddy )

Only if you want to. But if you want my advice: make it similar to IDW's redemption arc. Because even though it's the first: it's still the greatest one i've ever seen done. And in a genuine light, too. And i'm just glad the last events didn't ruin everything completely. He still has a chance!

Well, let's just say it ties in to the very beginning of the series, and the reason why he began the Great War. Basically, several years after the Deceptigod fight, and Galvatron's defeat, Megatron comes back in the midst of Bumblebee, and Starscream's leadership campaign. He feigns surrender, and tricks the bots into making his new body. This makes him into the centerpiece of a new Devastator after mind-controlled prowl fails to be the combiner's head. He leads a decepticon riot involving Prowl/Devastator, and tries combining himself. But turns out Ratchet, and i think Wheeljack, put in a failsafe that incapacitates him, and traps him in a forcefield. At this moment, Starscream takes control by denouncing his faction, and kicking out everyone affiliated with bots, and cons.
Starscream then proceeds to gloat over his victory to Megatron, and how genuine, and complete it truly was. This starts making Megatron think, and begin doubting himself. Sometime later, when the Dark Cybertron arc comes around, Shockwave kidnaps him, and tries coercing him into using his internal Space Bridge to bring Glavatron AND Nova Prime back from the dead universe. He refuses....so Shockwave forces him to do it. Some time later, Bumblebee's team shows up, and tries to thwart Shockwave. But they only half succeed: while Bee was trying to get Megs out of there, Galvatron came up from behind, and then proceeded to rip him in two.
At that moment, two transformers somewhere in the Multiverse laughed at that delicious irony.
After they escape, Megatron tries rallying everyone to fight, but Bumblebee calls him out on what he "claims" they'd be fighting for, as he no longer truly believes it. Now THIS is what really begins getting to him. Combined with his recent failures, including Earth,Megatron is slowly facing the reality of his hypocrisy. Thankfully, he uses his spacebridge to give Metroplex back his thumb - coated in Ore 13- and then fight back a possessed Metrotitan. Ratchet then repairs Megatron, as he begins pondering over how his life has been going. And eventually, he and the rest of Bumblebee's team storm Shockwaves lair, just as he's preparing the Dark Cybertron event. I think thanks to Optimus, Galvatron is incapacitated, and at the mercy of Megatron. And due to the recent actions of the barbarian, Megs was ready to blow him to bits in retribution. But Bumblebee stays his hand: he tells megs that repaying violence with more violence is never going to change anything, and that only through mercy can we create a chance at true peace. Or something like that. But either way, it reminds megs of his days before his arrest before the war, and how he hoped to end the Senate's tyrannical reign using truth, poetry, and the written word. Either way, he spares Galvatron.......but then Shockwave murders Bumblebee right in front of Megatron. In anger, he attacks Shockwave for what he did. But at his current level, Shockwave was too much for him. And as they fought, he called Megatron out once more on the Decepticon cause, and the reason behind the war, despite his attempts to defend his reasons. Soon enough, Optimus shows up to fight, as well, and we once again get team-up. Prime tries reasoning with Shockwave-specifically Senator Shockwave, before he was forced into Shadowplay- to stop what he was doing. But Shockwave was intent on going through with his plans, no matter what Optimus said, or did.
But then Megatron himself did something noone ever expected: he took Bumblebee's badge, slapped it over his crest, and proclaimed himself to be an Autobot: in honor of his fallen friend. This really got Shockwave's mind jumbled. Enough so that the shadowplay was broken, and his memories-his true self returned. Before things could get worse, he asked both leaders to kill him: to stop Dark Cybertron, and save him from his cursed existence forever. They did, and in the end, Cybertron was saved. Soundwave sensed Megs turn, and wasn't all too thrilled.....which is what led to him siding with Galvatron. Later on, Optimus had a talk with Megatron to learn if his defection was honest, and true.
It was. And they decided that whatever the future held, they'd face it together. And they rest, as they say, is history.

Yeah. The writers really wanted to make Megatron into someone to sympathize with before he was forcefully turned into the monster we know him-i mean, knewΒ him to be. Ever since then, and after he arranged for his trial on Luna 2, which led to him being co-captain of the lost light: he has done NOTHING but work himself to changing for the better. He understands how horrible he was, and even though he is still learning, he is coming close. *sigh* But Tarn, and the Decepticon Justice Division almost ruined it all. And Ravage's death didn't help in the slightest. I'm just thankful Terminus showed up when he did: i was really afraid he was going to relapse. Almost as afraid as HE was.
