As breasts are almost entirely made of fat tissue, a woman with that kind of muscular developement couldn't possibly have breasts that large. Take a look at real photos of women body builders and you'll notice they have no breasts to speak of.

Liamythesh In reply to DantesInfyrno [2008-06-06 13:25:10 +0000 UTC]

The lack of breasts on most female bodybuilders actually has nothing to do with the muscular development, but rather the extreme dieting they must undergo to rid their bodies of fat for competitions. A woman who works out to gain a muscualar body, but does not go on extreme dieting and dehydration regiments should not normally lose their breasts.

Granted, this one looks like she must have been dieting, etc. to have that much definition.

Even assuming that a particular character has dieted in such a way, you can't forget about implants, and no, they don't always just look like tennis balls on a bodybuilder's chest. See Melissa Detwiller for an example. She is a rather built middle-weight female bodybuilder with very ample implanted breasts, which do not look very weird or unnatural.

If you're going to argue your current stance, I'd say a better argument would be that no woman is actually as muscular as depicted here, and very few women, regardless of body type, are actually that busty either.

However, You are forgetting that this is just one guy's fantasy. The breasts are the least of the things wrong on my list of things that just wouldn't work out in real life, etc.

If you feel upset by this, or like protesting that I'm wrong, feel free, but I'm not going to be dragged into an internet argument over a picture that I could really care less about.

I'm just trying to make one person better informed, and being one of those who has spent more than a few years wading through all the myths of female bodybuilding, has seen muscular women in life, and pictures ranging from mildly athletic, to heavyweight, and whose fiancee has a casual interest in, I should think I am at least qualified to say that much.

Ah, thank you very much for that clarification. I did know that the extreme dieting was the cause of the loss of breast material, and that the rest of her body definitely suggested that kind of dieting, I wasn't aware that there were natural looking breast implants to augment that kind of body.
Just as a matter of curiousity, what happens with those implants when they stop dieting and return to moderately normal body fat?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Liamythesh In reply to DantesInfyrno [2008-06-06 18:51:49 +0000 UTC]

as far as I can tell, breasts don't really tend to come back quite the same way the rest of the body fat does, not to mention that the decrease in breast fat is much more drastic than the decrease in overall body fat, and typically bodybuilders don't get "fat" in their off seasons so much as "smoothed over"

DantesInfyrno In reply to Liamythesh [2008-06-06 19:35:22 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting that they got "fat", just that they acquired a more normal level of body fat. And thank you for answering my question

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chachibenji In reply to DantesInfyrno [2008-06-06 06:43:01 +0000 UTC]

Because we are a defensive folk since people usually prefer to not ever hush about anatomy and the content itself and plus the artist doesnt speak very well

DantesInfyrno In reply to Chachibenji [2008-06-06 08:39:48 +0000 UTC]

I wasn't attacking the artist -- I was pointing out that the anatomy is wrong for someone with that kind of physique.

It was my opinion -- it turns out my belief was wrong, which was pointed out to me by another fan. I have since apologized to the artist, but at the time I thought my knowledge was correct.

DantesInfyrno In reply to Siegfried129 [2008-06-06 18:13:53 +0000 UTC]

Just to let you know I was not attacking you, but pointing out what I thought was an error in anatomy. It turns out I was wrong, as another of your fans informed me, so I apologize now if I disturbed you.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

WBLtheELITE In reply to DantesInfyrno [2008-06-06 12:48:57 +0000 UTC]

You were attacking the artist because this is the medium the artist works most often with.

Raven is a fantasy character from a comic book/TV series, who might not necessarily need to follow the laws of physics or anatomy we all need to. And even if she did, it's fan art, and the rules of fan art are far more freeform.

Please quit wasting your time, the artist's time, and everyone else's time here. If you don't like it, just don't look at it.

DantesInfyrno In reply to WBLtheELITE [2008-06-06 18:06:49 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I see, I'm not allowed to express my opinion because it's fan art and thus sacrosanct?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WBLtheELITE In reply to DantesInfyrno [2008-06-06 18:39:36 +0000 UTC]

You're not allowed to lash out in this way because it's insulting, it's not helpful in any way, and if you don't like muscle girls, you shouldn't be in this art gallery in the first place, dipshit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DantesInfyrno In reply to WBLtheELITE [2008-06-06 19:32:34 +0000 UTC]

mangamuscle In reply to DantesInfyrno [2008-06-06 18:23:07 +0000 UTC]

What does "growing up" has to do with this? This is just a drawing, if you do not like it go bitch about it somewhere else, here we are not interested in your useless criticism.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DantesInfyrno In reply to mangamuscle [2008-06-06 19:38:14 +0000 UTC]

In other words, stop getting so defensive and "offensive" about a comment I made on a fantasy drawing. You seem to be of the opinion that no one can express less than complimentary comments about your favorite artist/artwork.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mangamuscle In reply to DantesInfyrno [2008-06-06 19:53:02 +0000 UTC]

Quite the opposte, the other day I did a non-complimentary comment (yes, I criticized) on such a drawing. The diference being that I know about anatomy and the like, so my criticism had some substance. In other words, the phrase "everybody is a critic" means "people like to criticize even if they have no real knowledge about what they are seeing". It is ok if your comment is "I do not like", everybody has diferent likes/dislikes, but if you are going to attempt to criticize others people hard work, you better know something the original artist does not, otherwise you will become a target of criticism youself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DantesInfyrno In reply to mangamuscle [2008-06-06 21:39:47 +0000 UTC]

Well, I was corrected in my belief, and it was my belief that a female body builder couldn't have mammaries of that size with the apparent lack of body fat on the rest of her anatomy -- and I took said correction in stride and apologized to the artist.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mangamuscle In reply to DantesInfyrno [2008-06-07 18:57:07 +0000 UTC]

You still do not understand that there is a fine line between an error and personal style. Reality is recreated, not duplicated when you draw (if you want to duplicate reality then buy a photographic camera). Whether real bodybuilders can or cannot have humongous mammaries is irrelevant. Using your present logic you could (and should for the sake of coherence) criticize all drawings with big anime eyes, which are not only anatomically incorrect, also no human being has them and if someone had plastic surgery to enlarge them like that they would look grotesque. To us you look exactly like someone criticizing big anime eyes for their anatomical absurdity.
