This picture pretty much sums up the system failure. I got kids and seeing this kid or others for that matter in simmilar situations just turns my heart inside out.

yes, it's crazy how a huge chuck of the world is living while others flaunt about on their private jets and lobby for laws that keep the rich getting richer and the poor left in the gutter...

crys i have been homeless on and off my adult life. i get kicked out of places for no reason and homeless shelters to. i had to just lay down some where any where and rest or sleep. crys it's painfull being abused and pushed around and assaulted by people while being homeless. being homeless in the summer time when it is worm is fun as long as you have a tent some where save and free to go to when the homeless shelters and places kick out or abuse you or misstreat you. i had some fun while being homeless a couple of years ago in the cities in minnesota because i met alot of people and i socialized with alot of people every day and it was a fun experience but i had to ignore and let the bad stuff go while being homeless.

Hi Sifu. Obviously you know by now that i do like your work and this one is no exception. In fact, in my own opinion, this is one of your strongest ones. The way you did it is excellent but it is so much helped by the subject.
It is sad that we have such a situation in this time and age apart from anything else. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for ANYONE-be it a child or an adult- to be in this situation considering the resources that we currently have GLOBALLY. I went through all the comments on this one (which explains the urge to write a longer than usual comment). And I have one thing to say, if your profession is as a photographer, and that is the means by which you put bread and butter on the table, then you are profiteering from every single shot you take and end up for sale. By "you" I mean every photographer. Unfortunately, we are in an age where it is extremely easy and acceptable to criticise others without thinking of the consequence of your comments.I come from a culture that sees child labour as a way of helping the parents and the family in day life.In fact, it is considered better than wasting your time, begging and/or getting on the wasted side of life in general. Yes it is easy to say children should be at school and enjoying their childhood. But in real life, you cannot enjoy anything when you are REALLY hungry and penniless !! So, i think you've done a great job in capturing the moment of this poor child (who I really do feel for him). And for all who criticised the photo, I do believe that there is another way of looking at the photo: as a reminder for every soul that sees it of the injustice of our ways in present time. We can all do our bit. When you don't waste anything, you are helping. When you eat ALL of your food and don't throw it away, you are helping. Just an example and not preaching that is all
Phew, that was more than two cents mate!! That is almost a whole dollar

Your image disturbs. This is what photography is about. For those "politicaly correct" blind folded people whose hypocritical nature does not allow them to see beyond their back yard, the image is very disturbing. Photography by definition captures the raw truth, either it is happiness, sadness or drama. This is the truth. Some "disturbed" people who commented above, are passing infront of such scenes on daily basis. But they prefer to close their eyes like they do not happen in our beautifuly made world. How shocking!..there are homeless in this world! there is poverty! Your crime here is that u just reminded these people about what they daily choose to forget. Which one of all those hypocrits is really helping the children he/she is seeing on the streets (unless they stay in Beverly Hills and they see no such scenes)? Who raised funds for such help... What the fuck did you people do , apart from bitching somebody who chose not to close his eyes?... Wish you all a happy miserable life in your bitchy dreamworld. Having said that, this is an awesome photograph! It simply serves its purpose.
Alex.
