Another entry for 's fairy tale contest. It is an illustration for the fairy tale Bluebeard, a particulary gruesome fairy tale in my opinion.In the story a young girl marries the immensely wealthy but feared aristocrat Bluebeard. He gives her a key to a room, which she mustn't enter. As soon as possible she enters the room (of course..).
There she has to discover Bluebeard's horrible secret: the room's floor is awash with blood and the murdered bodies of her husband's former wives hung from hooks on the walls. Horrified, she drops the key into the pool of blood.
Thats the scene i tried to depict in my image. Her expression didn't really turn out the way i imagined it, but i kinda like it nonetheless

Wonderful coloring and the expression may be more sorrowful than horrified it's still really evocative.
Most classic fairy tales are really gruesome, they were like the slasher flicks of the time

I remember this story from when I was young. In elementary school my teacher would tell us this story in french. It was my favourite of all of the stories she told us(concidering it's the only one I remember.)

She's so pretty! I always did love this old fairy tale. The creepier one are always better. You did very well with this! Normally I would say she should look more horrified, but this expression tends to make me think she is about to faint, which works very well considering her age and the sight that she is seeing.

Oh wow, that is a gruesome fairy tale. Though, a lot of tales are originally very brutal, which I think is actually why they are so interesting.
Anyway, I think you you captured her feelings quite well! I also like the way you used red in this picture, it really makes the picture more intense. : )
