Description
Second entry for 'Lace...' competition.I know its still a little grainy but given the lighting I think it adds realism and a certain vintage feel!

Superb light in this scene, and what a gorgeous silhouette...

Looks very romantic yet a hint of sadness... a maiden waiting for her sweetheart perhaps

A fine study, Steve.
The mood and shadowcraft provide a very enjoyable viewing experience.
"I know its still a little grainy ..."
I like the grain .. being an old world photographer.
The texture suits the tone .. as the scene itself has a vintage armosphere.
Nicely realized.
Terry

Very pretty! The lighting is perfect. I think the veil turned out wonderfully. Excellent scene, bud!

It's really beautiful. Just the veil that doesn't look 100% natural (i.e. I expect the falling part in the light to be a bit more folded and I had to keep watching for a minute to spot that) but I like it very much.

Thank you, I used the Optitex dynamic tablecloth for the veil so didn't have much control over how it 'fell'.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about (as I have no experience in 3D modelling) but I believe you. On the other hand, it's still possible to edit the veil afterwards in a retouching software. For instance I'd do that best if the veil could lay on a separate, transparent layer, so that the deformations are applied to the veil alone. Just some random thoughts on the fly. You're most welcome by the way.

Hehe! Dynamic clothing/accessories are just that - they move! So you can do an animation to drape the cloth on a figure so that it moves realistically, unlike conforming clothing that is modelled solid with the creases in the mesh. Let's just say that the veil was artistically posed so that the pattern of the lace was clearly distinguishable

You said "optitex" so I assume it was done in DAZ Studio, with Reality Plug In, and Lux Renderer.
If I remember well there is some plug in that lets you control the dynamic cloth items in DAZ Studio, right?

That's correct on both counts, partially - all my artwork follows the same workflow of DAZ Studio 4.5 > Reality 2.5 > Lux 1.2.
There is a basic plugin that allows you to use Optitex items within DAZ, but to get full control of material parameters you need to purchase the Dynamic Clothing Control. In this piece, only the veil (essentially a tablecloth!) is Optitex - the dress is made in Marvelous Designer, which allows you to create your own dynamic clothing. However at present you can only import a static pose into DAZ.
