My entry for the Entomon Gym Challenge for the Pokemon Art League group's art challenge. For anyone who doesn't know; it's an art group that challenges you to improve your art skills by having you draw something specific with a Pokemon-related theme assigned to you by its "Gym Leaders", who then rate your finished work and give you a score. I highly recommend any artist who also likes Pokemon to check it out.

Anyway, I was assigned to draw an enthusiastic Munchlax reimagined as a Bug-type, so I decided to make him part moth and inspecting a street lamp in the night. I covered him in hair to look more moth-like and gave him compound eyes like a Venonat. The coloration of his wings is intended as a reminiscent of Munchlax's normal color-palate. I also considered giving him a pair of antennae, but because of his ears atop his head, anywhere I put them just looked kinda out-of-place, so I ended up scrapping that idea. As for the background; I decided to keep it simple to keep the focus on the subject, and so I just stuck with a misty-night look.

Well, this is the third of eight gyms I have finished the assignment of. We'll see if it scores high enough to pass the challenge or not. I still have five other assignments from the remaining gyms that I am currently working on simultaneously (I challenged all the gyms at once. LOL), so there will be more art like this from me in the near future.
