Appearance > Loft looks weird. It’s a constant in his life. Scales too dark for a normal SkyWing, looking as if he’s been burnt, with traces of normal orange and red tracing through his scales, like flames, and some spots duller than others, like ash. Not to mention the vivid blue eyes.
He is a fairly muscular dragon, though he is built nearly opposite of his daughter, Pinyon – that is, he’s fairly skinny and extremely pokey, all knees and elbows. He gives great hugs, though. He wears a set of leather pouches around his neck where he stores various items.
Scars > A SandWing venom scar on his tail is the big one, though he has some small scars that are harder to see, since he doesn’t scar that easily.

Age > 59 (he looks fairly young for his age, through no fault of his own. other dragons ask for his secret and he doesn’t really know how to respond)
Birthday > Celebrates it on August 8th, but doesn’t actually remember his actual birthday, so it could be way off

POSITIVE:
Principled > Loft has few moral standards, but the ones that he does have he keeps to religiously. He rarely goes against said principles, and when he does, that’s when you know you should run. His primary principle is to never kill anyone.

Kind > Loft is, fundamentally, a good person. He strives to be as nice and gentle as possible to every dragon he meets. He knows the world shows little kindness, so he tries to make up for that.

Devoted > Loft is devoted to other dragons he allows to get close to, especially his daughter, Pinyon. (Have I mentioned that his daughter is Pinyon enough times? Because that’s pretty much his thought process for everything. Notice problem –> What would Pinyon do? –> Do that.) He loves rarely and fiercely, and with all the power of a million suns.

Affectionate > Loft is good at expressing his love for other dragons. He knows all the love languages, and tries his best to convince the dragons in his life (just Pinyon, for now) that he will always love them. He’s very open with his feelings, though not with his past.

NEUTRAL:
Trusting > For better, and far more often for worse, Loft’s instincts dial towards trusting so hard the dial jammed up and now he can’t get the weird, annoying feeling of Other dragon! Must devote entire life to them and believe everything they say! out of his head. He tries hard to tamp it down (see next bullet point) but something inside him will want to trust everyone he talks to. And even with the barriers, he sometimes trusts that people are engaging with him in good faith, or believes that the specific phrase that pings his very weak “do not trust” instincts is wrong, but the rest of what is said is true.

Guarded > Loft’s been burned by his trusting nature too often, so he’s put up barriers to avoid trusting the wrong dragons. Problem is, he still hasn’t figured out a reliable way to tell who is trustworthy and who isn’t, so his conditions for letting his guard down can be somewhat arbitrary and confusing, even to him. He thinks it’s best to not trust anyone instead of trusting the wrong dragon.

Loyal > Again, Loft will easily dedicate his life to someone. He has for Pinyon. And because of his nature, he becomes loyal to other dragons easily, even ones that he shouldn’t trust nearly as far as he could throw them.

NEGATIVE:
Oblivious (not a personality trait, just want to highlight that he is that dumb) > Loft fails to notice cues of any kind most of the time, as his wis/obs is so critically low. He fails to notice social cues, threats, inconsistencies, and signs of danger. Which can sometimes work out for him, because his constant obliviousness acts as a shield to any barbed remarks, though there is a way to rile him up: openly saying anything insulting about Pinyon.

Self-sabotaging > He absolutely will put others before himself, to the point where it becomes annoying or even self-sabotage, or even sabotaging everyone. Like, say he and some other, weaker dragon were snowed in a cave, and there was only one scrap of food left. Logic would dictate that he should eat the food, since he would then, once the snow storm was over, be able to carry the weaker dragon back to safety. But Loft would absolutely refuse to eat the food, not because it’s the smart thing to do, but because he believes the other dragon deserves it more. He’s just… like that.

Stubborn > Once he has his mind set on something, he will not budge, especially if he thinks it’s the right thing to do, which he often does. He’s really annoying about it, too. Even Pinyon knows not to go against her dad when he has his mind set on something, which is why she often goes around him in more subtle ways he’s oblivious to.

Fearful > Loft has plenty of skeletons in his closet, and he’s afraid that they’ll come after him. Worse, he’s afraid they’ll come after Pinyon. So whenever there’s a hint that his past is catching up to him, he runs. That’s why he’s not planning on staying on Mezzo, even though Pinyon loves it there. It’s still too close to Pyrrhia, where he made his enemies.

LIKES >> His daughter, Pinyon, exercise, cheese, feeling safe, dad jokes, saying “get it?!” to dad jokes, explaining the dad jokes

DISLIKES >> People insulting his daughter, Pinyon, water, fire, not being able to trust his instincts, which is a constant thing

SECRETS:
> Pretty much his entire past, he doesn’t want Pinyon to find out since she’ll want to take down the dragons who killed her bio parents, and she’s many things, but she isn’t strong, and in his mind she’s still a dragonet.
> Why he has blue eyes and unusual scale colors, and the whole story™ behind that. (He was supposed to be a fireborn, only saved from that fate by his twin dying in the egg, but he still looks the part, especially with his blackened scales. This caused him some trouble later, but I’m getting ahead of myself)

> Anything happening to Pinyon, especially the dragons he angered in his past finding her.

Baby Dragonet > Never let it be said that Loft’s mother did not care for him.
Or, rather, her, since they were female, at first.
If her larger than usual egg were to be fireborn, her mother would’ve done anything to ensure her daughter a normal life. She would’ve petitioned the animus dragons of Pyrrhia, forcing them to listen to her.
Luckily Loft wasn’t fireborn. But their problems weren’t over yet. As a single mother living in the SandWing desert, food was scarce. Loft’s mother fell in with the wrong dragons to feed her family, and, well, the rest is not something Loft is open about. The mods know, but no one else does, in-story or out.
Well, except for the people directly affected.

Dragonet > A closely guarded secret, known only to the mods

Young Adult > A closely guarded secret, known only to the mods

Adult > Loft fled his town, leaving everything and everyone he knew behind. He came to another desert town, this one closer to the Sky queendom. Hopefully his past would leave him behind there.
But it didn’t. Even Ibis couldn’t stop dragons from following him around. And even the threat of something happening to Pinyon was too much. After all, dragons devoted to their cause wouldn’t mind dying in the SkyWing trials. And the source of the danger was rich and lived in the Sand queendom. They would never be so much as put on trial.
So Loft and Pinyon left that town, and travelled around Pyrrhia, never staying in one place for long. Pinyon grew into an inquisitive, curious child, constantly wondering about her past and why they constantly left everything behind. It was no life for a dragonet, Loft thought, but there really wasn’t any other option. Except…
When Pinyon’s school graduation was crashed by a terrifyingly familiar face, Loft had had enough. He decided that the two of them had to go where the dragons haunting him could not, would not follow. Pantala. They stopped at Mezzo, since Pinyon couldn’t fly as long as he could, and she kept finding what even he realizes are excuses to stay. He lets her, but he can’t help but worry that it’s only a matter of time before they have to complete their journey.

SIBLINGS > Xero and Thirst, Pinyon’s parents, were like siblings to him. They helped him with… a lot of things, and they were easily able to catch logical errors and inconsistencies, just like Pinyon now. Pinyon reminds him of them all the time.

He is a great dad, if you ignore the fact that he’s constantly keeping secrets from her. (He is also soooo embarrassing!
