This is actually my first time using a ref. Hope I did okay. Also, Monarch is much more stocky and muscular than the model SilkWing is – she's an athlete, and built for flying fast and hard.

As for why she has black on her when SilkWings aren't supposed to, I have three reasons. 1 is that I made her colors before we knew the SilkWing color scheme and I don't want to retcon anything, second is that it's not actually black, it's just really, really dark brown. I prefer the third which is that she is descended from a HiveWing (original Monarch was a SkyWing descended from a NightWing, so it fits). Because the tribes of Pantala seemed pretty close in the Prologue and the HiveWings seem to be descended from SilkWings, it's reasonable to assume that there were plenty of Silk/Hive hybrids before the Tree War. After though, I imagine Queen Wasp would've hunted them out, and the remaining ones would have fled and joined the mysterious "Chrysalis". Monarch would be descended from one of these hybrids, which is also why she has freedom to become an athlete and do stunts when SilkWings under the HiveWing occupation definitely wouldn't be allowed to do so.

EDIT: I KNOW THERE'S A CANON MONARCH. I ALSO KNOW THAT YOU PROBABLY HAVE AN OC NAMED MONARCH. BELIEVE ME: I AM VERY UP-TO-DATE WITH WOF CANON AND I KNOW WHAT ALL THE COMMON OC NAMES ARE. I AM NOT CHANGING HER NAME, SHE'S THREE YEARS OLD AND THEREFORE OLDER THAN YOUR MONARCH AND TUI'S MONARCH AND YOUR FRIEND'S MONARCH. IF I WAS GOING TO CHANGE HER NAME I WOULD HAVE ALREADY. STOP ASKING ME ABOUT IT AND TELL ME WHAT ELSE I DID WRONG ALREADY. I'M TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT THIS.
