H'okay, this is "finished" for the moment simply because once again, I won't have time to work on it before the contest deadline. : P

What I started with can be found here --> [link]

And with all of you lovely people's helpful critiques, I updated:

Made the shadow on the ground darker.
Bumped up the contrast on the deer, gave him some white in his eye (there was more but it looked odd to me), and gave him spots.
Moved the whole top portion of the bird upward and connected it to the legs a little more obviously. (For those with balance questions, the idea was that the big "flap" in the back of the bird would help to balance it when walking. The wings were intended to be used more for leverage than for actual flying, sort of like. Uh. A predatory chicken. ..With three legs. Or something.)
Added the teeth on the underside.
Fuddled with his legs a bit and made them a little more sturdy.
