Sailor Moon bellydancer. You can buy prints of her at New York Anime Festival (without the watermark
).I took my old way of coloring in greyscale and reapplied the idea in painter rather than photoshop. Then adjusted the Hue/saturation.
Any suggestions for coloring the next one will be helpful

I would probably give Michiru the violin as that's her instrument of choice.
I'm not sure about an organ for Usagi. Could be intresting though? Personally I see her more of with a shamisen or a lyre.

No she's going to be next along with Saturn, Neptune and Uranus. I'll probably do Pluto first though because she's my favorite senshi

How do you do greyscale colouring?
I've got Painter. Once you've done the grey, how do you colour it?

After I've painted everything in greyscale I select the area for the color change.
I go to Effects>Tonal Control>Surface Control.
Then play around with it till I get what I want.
I fine tune the colors in photoshop if I still don't get exactly what I'm looking for using Image>adjust>hue/saturation.
I use Painter 8 so if you have a newer version I don't know if it's the same (probably better though

I have Painter X. It has tonal control and surface control in the same drop down menu, and then each one has loads more choices.
I didn't think you cold get colour from grey, no matter how much fiddling you did. I thought you had to paint over it somehow.
I'll look at a tutorial or something, next time I need it.

I really like how the skintone turned out! Those broadlines outlining the figure really do it for me though :/ Lemme know about your commission so i can buy supplies!

I really like this idea. I think the shoulders are too broad, but other than that + very good pic. Especially the coloring is awesome.
