My brain thought of a loose AU to go with this while I colored and there was little I could do to stop it

Pirate captain Zallithan has a small pest problem of mercreatures, particularly one called Nero, interfering with his treasures and conquests.
A new crew member catches Nero's attention, and over time his intrigue grows. Taking from Zallithan is amusing in its own right, but maybe this is a treasure he wouldn't mind keeping for himself.
