Description
UPDATED 07/03/2013 : NOW IN COLORA girl has run into trouble in the swamp! Unfortunately it seems to be the sticky, deep kind of trouble...
I am loaded down with work for the remainder of the week, so I forced myself to draw something quite hastily. I just have to survive this week, much like this girl just has to survive the quicksand!

Keep up the good work anyway.
Good stuff you got there.
I hope you'll take time out to check out some of the animations I've done with girls in quicksand....believe me, I'm pretty amateurish at this stuff.

The black and white drawing still remains impressive for me, but I must say your color depiction is equally impressive! This reminds me of a page from a comic book.
Love the color you chose for her outfit, and the color of the mud and surroundings is excellent!
The third frame still remains quite special as you show her stuck and sinking far from any means of assistance that could allow her to pull herself free of her sticky, sinky situation.
Thanks for sharing!

Nice shots there Slowly descending into the mire, hehe
So nervous that she lost her balance and it didn't take too long to fall on her butt, because it was just inches from the surface.

Mmmm gloriously goopy browns, so thick and sticky, and the colors bring it all to life!

Hmm the shading is a little weird looking in places, I might do a stealth update later.

I LOVE this comic.
Shows her predicament from multiple angles, shows how panicked and scared she is, gives the viewer a good perspective of where she is, etc. I like the "sound effects." I like the close-up shot, too. Nice detail on her jeans.
I hope you draw more in this style, maybe even in color!

I'm glad you like this style, it was very quick and dirty (no pun intended!) ... I will try coloring it to see the results!

This is very nicely drawn and planned out!
Your set up of the frames/panels works beautifully. It's easy to understand the flow of the storyline.
The three different camera angles along with close-up and distant shots effectively adds a lot of action, drama, sense of struggle, and sense of desperation all on one page of the comic...
- Panel One clearly shows the issue at hand... sinking in the mud.
- Panel Two ups the drama by showing the intense pumping of her legs and splashing of the mud as she tries to get free, but finds she's stuck fast.
- Panel Three adds a sense of remoteness of her situation, as if we're there on the firmer ground amongst the cattails and reeds and looking off into the distance where we see her struggling and slowly sinking deeper into the mire. I particularly like this this panel as it gives me ideas to try out at the drawing board.
What's nice about this comic is it can be a stand-alone piece that tells the entire story in three panels and leaving us to vusualize what happened before and after what you've depicted, or it can be the central piece in a three-page comic with a first page depicting how she got into this sticky situation and a last page showing the end result. Either way, this is most outstanding!
Thanks for sharing!

My cheeks are blushing, receiving so much praise! I did not plan much for this, I just sat down and made it happen. If you watch the re draw video it probably shows me back up a few times, I have not watched it yet

I forgot to mention that I found the captions to also be simple and to the point. She described her situation very well without talking too much... which you would expect from someone who finds themself in deep trouble.

Inside a rainy car, waiting for someone. Under a magnolia tree away from 100 degree sun, ditto. It attacks you..... Quick-sketch! In 20 minutes you dash off 10 frames of some gorgeous sequence. The thought of 'tearing back into it' distracts you while you're having your meeting. Immediately after the person you've met has left, ya Gotta get back to 11, 12, 13....! And 11-3/4... and 6-1/2. You do like and you 'thicken it'... and keep the sketches to reminisce about that rainy wait, that wetness, and heat under the tree! And going there yourself...
Oh! Great suggestions of the mud's grips and timing in your zooming. Your capturing of the successive 'poses' and gestures of the girl's struggles are convincingly compelling. You truly get it! And the mud's enthusiastic!

LOL Well, the shape of the panels is one thing...My point is, your page "reads" well, the eye is directed smoothly from panel to panel, the story is clear

No, this is just something I intended as practice! When I have a lot of lousy work to do, it makes me want more than ever to draw a nice full comic. Between work and other distractions its really been hard to get started on a real project like that. But I think about it every day!
