Description A man gazes down at the dark city
He's standing on a haunted tower
Viewing in all it's glory the horizon before him
The city that is his to protect

But in his heart
He is troubled, tormented
He justs wants to rest
Forget the world
And bring peace to his haunted soul

He seeks to forget the tragedies
To purge the memories from his mind
To forget friends lost and crushed hopes

But that is not to be
His fate dictates
He watches over the this dark world
For he made a promise to do it
A promise he will honour to the dead

This is what makes him a true hero
He honours the past
Protects those he swore to protect
But at the price of his own soul

He will endure his past
Lock away his heart
Bearing his eternal loneliness
Till death comes for him

He will honour his word
Even though demons will haunt him forever
For this is what makes him a true hero
Someone who faces the past and endure
Even if his soul threatens to die forever
He will not abandon the innocent to their fate
That was his promise

that's a really cool poem. It describes truth behind the hero's heart heroes really well. deep and emotional, but really true at the same time. it goes really well with the picture too.

Thank u. Yes a hero is always those who sacrifice a part of themselves. Well I tried to capture the emotions in the pic so yeah. I do honour my friend's work so I tried to honour the pic.

i also wanted to say there is a way to edit, login and open the poem, below the preview in the bar where the fav button is on someone elses poem, theres a button with what looks like a pencil on paper, you can edit whatever you like there
