The silver moon was slowly creeping along the thick mountain's ridge that rimmed part of the Deitan Isles. Within the shelter of these mountains lived a noble herd, the Atruians. They were warriors, travelers, and just about everything in between. This past winter had been severe, and the numbers were dropping in the Atruian Herd. The leader of that time took his own life to defend his only daughter, the successor to the Atruians, and was killed in place of her.

This young mare, who went by the name of Key, was only five at the time, and had no idea how to run a herd, as her mother had run off, and her father was now dead and could never show her what it took to be a leader.

She was scared, she feared she would fail and bring the Atruians into darkness. Seductive stallions tried to take over, some forcefully, some sweetly.

However, Key refused, and she stood her ground. She made a promise herself to take care of her father's herd. She swore she'd avenge his death and make the best of the Atruian Herd. And once Key had made a promisde, it was something she could never break.

A few years later, a mysterious stallion appeared on the Deitan Isles. He was an odd color of tan, and his rump was decorated with a beautiful array of spots and a splash of white. He was the most handsome stallion to ever lay foot on the islands, was what the mares thought.

Key was in heat when this stallion came to the Atruians in search of a home. Rumors said that he was traveler and was never to be trusted. But Key needed a stallion, and foals to take her place as leader when it was the time.

Within hours, every horse in the Deitan Isles knew that the strange horse's name was Damascus, and he came from Auraca.
