Description

As the title suggests, here’s Mohatu declaring the unity between his pride and a neighboring pride, the pride Ahadi is native to.

Mohatu watched as more of his pride fell to disease from the drought. He was at a point where he was unsure if he needed help rebuilding the pride’s population, or if he should just let it die out completely. No, the Great Kings wouldn’t allow it, it was his destiny to rule. Soon, his daughter Uru provided the answer…

Uru brought home a lion who’d gotten separated from his pride while they were on the move. He was a bit of a bold, adventurous one, in contrast to his more reserved and timid younger cousin Spidi. Ahadi’s three big sisters always looked out for him, always having to make sure he doesn’t wander off.

When Ahadi reunited with his sisters and cousin, he told them of the lioness he met. Their ears perked up when he told them she was the Princess of the Pridelands. The youngest of his older sisters, Arusi (Swahili for “wedding”, also the one pictured behind Ahadi), devised a plan to groom her little brother into a false prince in order to appeal to the king.

The plan worked as Mohatu admired the “prince’s” charming charisma. Mohatu would betroth Uru and Ahadi and unify the prides in order for the royal pride to grow again.

Mohatu’s secondborn son Moyo (seen to the far left) is unsure of this pride. He remembered the story Mohatu told him of his mother and the Selfish Lion. He was sure this pride wasn’t really royal, and that they were just wearing a label in order to mooch off of the Pridelands’ food and water supply, just like with the Selfish Lion.

Little did Mohatu know, however, his successor would eventually have no idea what he was doing as king (which is why you see Ahadi get flustered and overwhelmed in A Tale of Two Brothers). Uru had eventually found out Ahadi was just a typical non-royal lion (idk how exactly), but she promised not to tell her father, in fear that she may never see Ahadi again.

This is probably like one of my most crowded pictures ever, it’s got like I think 10 lions in it? Pictured from left to right are Moyo, Kilabu, Uru, Mohatu, Ahadi, Spidi, and Arusi (You may remember Moyo, Kilabu, and Spidi from this picture ). The two lionesses in the front left are unnamed Pridelanders, and the front right are Ahadi’s other sisters whom I haven’t named.
