Description

Organized crime can be like a board a game…an extremely dangerous game to play…a constant struggle for domination. Gerlinville is the operating turf of two rival gangs, The Goths and the dominant O’Learys. The Goths are a dark and mysterious family with deep roots in the area (The Goth Family Portrait ). Their ancient manor stands as one of the oldest structures in Gerlinville. The patriarch, Mortimer oversees the daily goings-on of the family, helped mostly by his wife, Bella, but has struggled recently to compete with the rival O’Learys. It’s even more troublesome to Mortimer that the O’Learys have only been in Gerlinville for a single generation. Their family is run by the powerful and cunning matriarch, Angelica O’Leary. She and her three daughters, Rosalie, Charlotte, and Erin decided to get a fresh start after the passing of Angelica’s husband and the girls’ father and so they emigrated from Ireland. They quickly took control of the organized crime scene in Gerlinville from the relatively weak Goth Family.

The Goths have been prepared for some sort of retaliation from the O’Learys. Mortimer had recently captured the eldest O’Leary daughter, Rosalie, and interrogated her for family secrets and locations of their stored wealth and plans (Interrogating the Mob Boss's Daughter ). However, when Rosalie revealed nothing to Mortimer, he didn’t have blood cold enough to end her life, so he begrudgingly let her go and now he awaits the revenge that will most definitely be coming his way.

But the revenge didn’t come swiftly, and the Goths eventually let their guard down. Angelica O’Leary is cunning, and she decided that the best way to hurt the Goths was to attack their more legitimate businesses, leaving them without a functioning front for their illegal activities. Angelica got the primary human resources representative from their businesses and convinced her to tell the Goths that they were under investigation by the FBI, but the lead investigating agent was willing to accept a bribe…a substantial bribe. The paper trail would be set up to tip off the real FBI, bringing about the downfall of the Goth “family business”.

Leah Martin was the pawn in this game, and she was not aware of how dangerous the game she was part of now really was. The promise of a hefty payoff to help with her student loans and mortgage in exchange for a little white lie was too tempting to let pass. She arranged a meeting with Mortimer Goth, stressing the urgency of the matter at hand and he agreed to meet her in his private bar. The petite blonde arrives in a very smart black skirt suit and striking green high heels. Mortimer bows, takes her hand, and kisses the top of it. Leah blushes at the gentlemanly gesture from Mr. Goth. This was going to be easy…a little flirting to wrap this guy around her finger, a quick monetary transfer, and then she bolts before anyone knew what was really going on! Yeah…right…
