This is more than some manifestation of one's soul. This is the results of when one sacrifices their humanity to become a hellish creature or demon in other words. The devil trigger is the release of the inner demon that lies within those who are demons and demon hybrids. This is an example of Ruby losing her humanity to become this demon. You can no longer call her a human anymore because of this. I actually like this for Ruby.
