"If only I had gotten the chance to know you better."I just felt like drawing a picture of a teary Maya remembering her mother. :c
She's so upbeat for someone who's gone through so much crap.
Which makes me realise how out of character this image probably looks LOL OH WELL.And yeah I know her magatama is orange but I'm just gonna go ahead and pretend they all glow green or something. Hyeah.

Please ignore the ugly background perspective. That's what I get for not properly drawing stupid perspective lines first.
Drawing the tatami mat was exciting.
...
And by exciting I mean I have no idea what made me think drawing the tatami fibres and the trimming patterns by hand was a sensible thing to do.

Well she's usually all strong and cheery in front of her friends, but that doesn't mean she doesn't catch herself before she tears up in front of them either. So I think it fits perfectly.
Aaaand I just love this picture! Maya's my favorite female character (too many male ones XD) so seeing your rendition of her really makes me happy!

Lovely job on this. I actually applaud you for rendering this image. Not only is it beautifully done, but I do think that despite how upbeat Maya is, I think secretly she would mourn her losses. She mentioned that she needed to be strong for Pearl, and though I do believe that she would put on a brave face in front of her friends and loved ones, given the magnitude of all that she's been through, I think on her own she would probably think about those no longer in her life. I love the detail, and I especially love the color scheme and your use of light. It really does look like its very late in the evening, when everyone else is sleeping; probably the only time she would have to herself. Kudos on a job well done!
