Description
WHOOT. Done. At. Last. /oel The most detailed character I've ever made. Ahma so proud. ; w ;
Hel-lo~! >w
In uniform: [link]
? Name: Violette
? Age: Looks 21 (but doesn’t have a clue how old she actually is. She never kept track.)
? Gender: Female
? Height: 5'6 (6' including 1 inch heels and her hat, which she never takes off)
? Job: Assembler
? Species: Living Toy ( Ragdoll)
? Weapon: Fingers that become a nearly indestructible, black metallic substance up to the end of her knuckles. They can become extremely long and either needle-like, or thinned along the edges, like long scalpels. Both are effective for piercing and cleanly slicing flesh as easily as cloth, depending on what Violette wants. The ways she can manipulate them are limited to the two aforementioned variations though; she can't, for example, make a spatula with her fingers.
? Abilities:
Needlework: When she's working, her fingers help her handle fine details as well as multi-task. She can elongate any of them at will while maintaining a few at their normal state simultaneously, and will use them to hold spools, push organs away, and sew or cut all at once. She's also very skilled with a needle and thread in general.
Feral form: once Violetteis in immediate danger, the whites of her eyes turn black and cracked at the edges, a defensive effect from her cat demon soul. Both her entire hands become the unique black substance she uses at work, though her fingers become thinner, sharper, and longer blades. These are tipped with smaller, shorter blades near the two joints that let her fingers bend, allowing her more ways to tear at opponents. The change to this form occurs nearly instantly, and usually in defense. In feral mode, Violette's bell is completely silent, and she will use her claws and speed to render opponents unable to fight. It should be noted that she's not in full control of herself in feral form, as she lets her soul's most basic instincts take over-- for this reason, feral Violette is like a completely different person with a different awareness. She's been practicing how to control this and let her consciousness be aware through sparring sessions with Niffler.
? Personality:
- A bit clumsy, and generally cheerful. Because she has a habit of working late, she tends to cut herself with her own claws when she gives in to her other habit of scratching her cheek. She's very good at sewing up her own wounds though, and has since learned to do so with minimal scarring. It's for this purpose that she has a ready sewing kit and a mirror in one of her many pockets.
- Usually looks serious and reserved, but is actually quite a goofball with good intentions. She'd do things that look silly with a smile without being embarrassed, unless someone points it out to her.
- Would do anything to break tense atmospheres (usually resorting to making a complete fool of herself), or retreat from them altogether when she feels she can't handle them. Living in a sheltered, happy atmosphere most of her life and the scarring experience near the end of her owner’s hasn't made her fond of overly serious moments.
- Has a habit of joking even in frightening, serious, and other rather inappropriate situations to hide the fact that she's not the calmest of people.
- While she's able to talk about herself pretty openly, she's especially guarded about her own personal thoughts and feelings towards other people. If you get her to actually open up it means you’ve earned her trust. Kudos. It’s a rare thing to accomplish.
- Incredibly dense and naive when it comes to romance. The only love she came to know about was the familial kind her owner shared with her, and hasn't had any orientation with the opposite sex. She therefore approaches anyone and everyone with the same nurturing kind of affection she was showered with by her owner. Any openly romantic approaches will be met with kind, blind stupidity while sexual approaches make her flail in mind-numbing embarrassment.
- In feral mode, she doesn't talk much. She does, however, smile a whole lot more. And looks rather deranged doing so.
? Bio:
A witch rag doll that was a joint labor of love between a seamstress mother and her sickly daughter, using scraps of different shades of violet cloth, the daughter's favorite color. Because her health prohibited her from going out of bed, the daughter would sew clothes for this doll and show them to her mother, who never allowed her daughter to actually help out of fear of her condition getting worse, even though she was struggling to make ends meet. Isolated and without any friends, the daughter would simply sew for her doll and make up stories about her little doll being a good witch to pass the time, talking to her and telling silly jokes like the doll was her best friend.
The day her mother didn't come into her room, the daughter walked into her mother's workroom and found her collapsed on her table. She died that night. The daughter and her doll were taken to a workhouse after no one else knew what to do with her. Due to the workhouse's predictably worse conditions, the daughter herself didn't last more than a few months; she died and was buried in a vacant lot, while her doll was placed into the grave with her.
The doll bemoaned the loss of the girl she'd loved, and the dank, dark dreariness of the coffin she found them both in. When two grave-robbers dug up the girl's grave among many others, one of them found the doll, and tried to take the silver bell on her neck. Out of sheer will, the doll placed its hands over it, scaring the beejeesus out of the robber, who didn't notice the body-snatcher behind him witness the whole thing. This body-snatcher finished the two off for their fresh 'loot', and took the doll along back to the Toy Store.
The doll was given life using the soul of a cat demon, and takes on a human form similar to her beloved owner. Because the owner she had loved adored this color, the doll called herself Violette.
? Likes:
- sharp objects
- pretty or cute objects (it's easy to mesmerize her with puppies, cute toys, or anything pretty)
- any shade of violet (goes without saying)
- string, yarn, thread, etc. (A side effect of having a soul of a cat demon. She can spend many a blissful hour just twirling string around her fingers)
- little girls (only because her owner was one!)
- laughter (even at her own expense)
- Aria , her scaly, barbed female monster
- Niffler and Zevrean
? Dislikes:
- people touching her bell or her hat. Do not touch. Don't. You might make her cry. Or you might lose a finger.
- material wastage (being a doll made from scraps made her adopt the motto “Waste not, want not!” pretty darn closely)
- rain
- smoke
- small dark places
- overly serious moments
? Additional Information:
- The silver bell on her neck indicates her mood. Its tinkling becomes more high-pitched when Violette is happy, becomes dull and muffled when she's sad, but is dead silent when Violette is angry, no matter how much she moves (and she moves pretty fast).
- Her mismatched eyes are a result of her owner not being able to find any matching buttons.
- Her hat is sewed to her head— unfortunately, despite her best efforts, the daughter made several mistakes doing Violette's hair, and made her hat permanently sewn onto her head to cover up the damage. Violette is very conscious of this, and has since reinforced the stitching.
- The rest of Violette's body under her clothes (in her human form) is stitched in different shades of ‘flesh’— there wasn't enough of the same material to make her entire body, so scraps were used, just like her clothes.
- When she's not being conscious, Violette tends to display cat mannerisms. She purrs softly when she's content, hisses when she's angry or feeling threatened, and mews when she's embarrassed. She's not especially fond of fish though, and she's got nothing against dogs.
- Her hat has a really wide brim. It measures a foot long on each side, and half a foot in the front and back. It's usually tilted and floppy-looking at the sides =w

Violette: Turning around a third time, she looked up at the man who came as tall as her hat. She looked down to where he stared, then up at him again, her mismatched eyes curious. "Err... is there something on my dress? owo; " she tilted her head as she asked. "I'm sure there isn't any blood on it today..." She looked down again, and pawed at her skirt to make sure.
no problem~! if you don't mind, i'll be using this style though... it's actually the one i'm most used to 8D

Violette: "Pleased to meet you Kiarel Vance. Kiarel." She gave him a little curtsy in response, repeating his name so she wouldn't forget. "Not used to rags? But... they're very useful when you know how to work them o3o putting them together is a little like putting body parts together-- you stitch up the right pieces the right way, you come up with something lovely~" She held up a portion of her skirt, a big grin on her face as her bell continued to emit high-pitched tinkles at her movement. "What's your job here Kiarel? I'm an assembler~" She looked up again expectantly, letting her skirt fall.

Kiarel: He found that to be a rather peculiar comparison. 'Putting them together is like putting body parts together' - as if putting body parts together was the most common thing in the world. Noticing that he hadn't reacted to Violette's words yet he nodded, as to show he understood her description, though he hadn't actually perceived much of it. "I am a body snatcher." He was about to ask what her profession was, but then realised that she had told him already. "Have you... been here for long?"

Violette: She nodded. "Yup! Though putting together rags is a lot less messy..." She added sheepishly, lacing her normal fingers together. She looked up again when he mentioned his job. "Ah... Then it's thanks to you that we get our parts ^w^ Me, I've been here since the third opening~"

Kiarel: He shook his head at her assumption. "It's not thanks to me yet, I am new to the store. And frankly, this place still appears... curious to me. I am not accustomed to..." He paused. He had intended to say 'violence', but that would have been a lie, he did have quite a violent past; whilst uttering his actual thoughts might have sounded offensive. "... corpses being utilized in such manner."

Violette: "Oh! Pardon-- I mean welcome!" She smiled lightly. "I understand what you mean, a little, but these new bodies make the clients happy, whenever they come~" The witch nodded slightly to herself. "What were you used to them being utilized as? owo/" It didn't occur to her that the question may be awkward-- or what kind of answers it might bring. She was simply curious.

Kiarel: Lightly bowing his head as to show gratitude he replied: "Thank you. And, of course, happy clients sure are the most important concern." There was a hint of amused sarcasm in his tone; he highly doubted that the happiness of such customers as described was an honest one. Her other question made him smirk. "Being buried and grieved about, usually. Availing them was strictly prohibited, and severely punished - if noticed."
I'm REALLY sorry for being so slow orz

silverei In reply to Nhizyr [2011-11-22 05:50:05 +0000 UTC]
Violette: Not quite noticing the tone of sarcasm, however small, she simply kept the sincere smile on her features. "A-ah..." his answer made her recall her own owner's burial, a memory as painfully clear as it was the day it happened. There had been no one to grieve the little girl's death, no one but the rag doll who had been tossed into the grave with her. Her smiled wavered, and quickly she shook her head to clear that one thought, as the sadness of the memory dulled the tinkling of her bell. "That's true... I still remember when a grave robber tried to take my silver bell... ^w^; It was right before I came to the store, but actually-- a body snatcher was the one who saved me from that nasty robber!" She grinned again, not minding how the rest of the story included the 'collection' of fresh limbs from her bell's would-be thief. She was too grateful to do so.
it's ok X'3 no hurry, no worry~

Kiarel: "Ah..." He regarded the ragdoll with a slight disbelieving frown. That 'nasty robber' most probably had made one of her beloved clients very happy by now - or more than one, depending on how many parts he had been chopped into. Either that girl was the most naive person he had ever met... or the most callous one. Both was possible, so he decided to exercise caution. "It's a lovely bell, yours." It looked nice but rather ordinary in his view, yet he was sure its jingling had dulled for a second, and was curious about the reason. "Is there something... special about it?"

Violette: "Isn't it just? ^3^" She touched the silver trinket very briefly, wearing a proud smile. "My owner gave it to me the day I was made! I think something happened to it when I nearly lost it... or something happened to me... I'm not quite sure. Now, it's... it's..." She struggled to find the right words. She'd never actually had to explain her bell before; it was just something that was. "... A bit like a mirror of what's inside me... if that makes sense owo/"

Kiarel: "A mirror of what's inside you? ... - it reflects your mental state?" Hand moving upwards to touch his cheek, he rested his elbow inside the grasp of his left hand. "By the tone of its tinkling, I assume?" A pity she didn't seem to know how that had come into happening, it would have interested him. Unfolding his arms again to return to a position of less reticence, he smirked a little. "I imagine that to be fairly bothersome."

Hearing it while I move just reminds me that I *can* move as much as I want to now, too! Mrm... I take it you wouldn't like people to know what you're... err... feeling? owo"

Kiarel: Her remarks about the bell made him smile, particulary the part about her present freedom of movement. How adorable she was, with her artless glee. "No indeed." He didn't want to imagine what life would be like if he had been the one to wear that bell, it would mean... a shiver ran down his spine, and made him decide to better not give that topic any further consideration. "But it can impossibly give insight into every corner of your soul; which emotions does it show, and by what sounds?"

Violette: She thought about this for a moment, looking at the floor. She was aware that most people can be secretive about things she was used to having out in the open. It wasn't something she had to understand; it simply was. So if Kiarel was secretive about emotions, so be it. Most people in the store were, she thought absently. "Ah... I suppose that's true." She finally said, looking up again. "As to what emotions it shows, the nicer I feel, the higher the sound owo it starts sounding duller the worse I feel..." As she spoke it occured to her that this might sound vague, and struggled to find an example. "I-I mean, let me put it this way-- if someone gave me a present, my bell would be as noisy as clear as any new bell~ The one time I thought I wasn't going to finish my first assignment on time, it sounded... really muffled. It's awful." She frowned. "... Did that make sense..?"

Kiarel: "I take it you like presents." Another smile played upon his lips, perhaps a hint of slyness in it - which though, had it really been there, vanished rather quickly. "It did make perfect sense." He fell silent to listen to the bell's tinkling for a while. What would it sound like if she was angry? Scornful? Disgusted? But, regarding the simple creature in front of him, he couldn't claim to be sure that she possessed any of these emotions.

Violette: "Who wouldn't like presents?" She asked with a little chuckle, her expression making it clear she was teasing instead of being sarcastic. "I love getting things, or giving things-- if people like what I give," She admitted. No one had actually *not* wanted a gift she gave, but the possibility of rejection left a figurative bad taste in her mouth. "I was a gift myself, once~" It was one of the happiest memories of her life, as a doll. "You're a toy too, right Kiarel? Weren't you a gift?" As far as she knew, most toys were meant to be given to children. Not all, but most.

Kiarel: Slowly, he nodded in agreement to what she had said first, and in response to the latter. "I am a toy... - although I tend to consider myself human. But yes, I have been a present too, several times." He paused. His answer had been calm and without much hesitation, but he prefered not to give further insight. The ragdoll, however, didn't seem to mind talking of her past, and the memory she had just recalled appeared to be a joyful one - judging by her bell and, less uncommonly, the tone of her voice. "Who were you given to?", Kiarel asked softly.

Violette: "Several owners? I see..." She couldn't imagine being cared for by that many people. It felt strange, but she didn't question it. At his question of who her owner was, her gaze fell, and her smile softened. "A sweet little girl I'd never forget," She murmured. "Being with her made me feel like I was alive before I really knew what being alive was like-- and I don't know how but I think I got to look like her-- I mean, if she were older, and not purple? Maybe? Erm..." Her soft smile suddenly turned quizzical and rather goofy, while her gaze slipped upwards at the ceiling in blank thought. Not that she would have mentioned it, but thinking of her owner too much inevitably brought up pain no matter how happy the memory. Having never talked about it, she wouldn't have been able to explain why this was if she tried.

Kiarel: He listened silently to the rather tangled heap of her memories. Sweet little girls were charming indeed; his first owner had been one of them, before she had died and he handed on, sold, or given away; from mother to child, to collector, collector, exposed to their vanity, over and over again.
Something seemed to have interrupted Violette's stream of thoughts - her face had changed to wearing an expression alarmingly close to the one of pain. "What is it...?"

Violette: She blinked several times as she looked at him instead of the ceiling, having not been aware she'd shown anything. "Mm? Nothing owo" So effective was the force of habit-- along with sheer will-- that the thought simply went away, along with the possibility of pain she never wanted to nor let herself face. "... I'm feeling a little hungry. Would you like to eat anything? owo/"

He gave her a smile and answered without further ado. "Not necessarily, but I will gladly keep you company, if you like."

Kiarel: "Anything you like shall be fine with me; I'm not too hungry anyway." He hadn't eaten much since he'd become a doll, hadn't slept much either... maybe that was just a side effect. "Actually, I think tea will suffice." He kept on following her as she advanced, watching her step. "Isn't that an inconvenient way of moving?" She seemed to be rather clumsy too. "I wouldn't mind you facing the way rather than myself while you walk. ^^"

Violette: "What kind of tea?" She asked, not having had much of the stuff herself. Since discovering coffee she'd grown fond of the stuff-- and the slight hyperactivity that occasionally came with palpitations. "Mmm?" She actually did stumble, but only out of surprise. A heartbeat later she'd straighten herself and held up one hand to her hat with a sheepish smile. "A-ah... but I wouldn't want to be rude... It's fine, really." As if to prove it she continued looking in his direction whenever he spoke, feeling rather proud that she no longer tripped, all the way to the kitchen.

Violette: She had to admit, the silence felt a little awkward. Still, she bowed in thanks and smiled when he opened the door before heading straight to the kitchen counter. There was the coffee that gratefully never ran out, and some clean ceramic cups. There were also a few unlabeled tins of leaves she took to be tea, and she held out one to Kiarel curiously. "What does black tea look like-- apart from black?" The question was perfectly serious, and was asked while she reached for a cookie jar she'd put there a few days ago.

Violette: She paused. Blinked. Frowned a little, and scratched her cheek. "Err... what... is a totem spirit..? owo/" she'd only met toys and a human or two, and was eager to know what kind of spirit could look so pretty.

Sao "Oh,well. . ." She mumbled and scratched the back of her head in a boy like manner. Soon, she started blabbing about her past, and how she was created from a young boys mother's spirit. ". . .At least I think so. ouo

Violette: She listened with rapt attention, eyes wide at the description of her own soul. "... So your soul... used to be his mother... but you're you, not her... and now you're looking for this boy... very interesting... o3o My soul is kind of secondhand too, but I don't think it had attachments strong enough to carry over to me. I hope you find this boy though ;w;/ I really do~!" Reaching over, she patted Sao's head gently, meaning it to be an encouraging gesture.

Sao: Sao blushed at the gesture a bit and smiled. "Don't 'cha worry about me~" She smiled like a boy and put her hands on her hips. "I'll find him one day~. . ." She let out a quiet sigh and mumbled something afterwards.

Violette: Laughing, she nodded in agreement. "All right~" The girl was so cute, she couldn't resist ruffling her hair a bit before letting go. "Wait, I don't think I caught your name -w-"

Sao: She quietly smirked before glancing up at the other girl. "Ah,yeah, name's Saoirse, but, call me Sao,it's much easier to remember. |D"
