Description
Here is my entry for !Nyxen ’s contest. We were to create a picture of her character Nyx and one of our own characters. Here we have the two mares, The Wanderer and Nyx, both of whom have some sort of control over the elements. Thus, the four elements in the four corners. Nyx’s legs represent the four elements, and her tail is made of mist. The Wanderer is a warden over storms, snow, rain, and wind. At first I tried to think of a way to just make a normal picture with a normal background, but I wanted something a little more interesting. So, I figured, they’re both mares, they both have attitudes, and they both represent the elements. This idea seemed pretty cool.

Originally I was going to rely on my trusty colored pencils and Bristol board, but once I had sketched the concept in my sketchbook, I realized that I would have some really cool lighting effects as a result Nyx’s glowing legs, so I decided to use Acrylic instead. There isn’t much of a “background” because there is so much going on with the two mares and the corners. I just didn’t think a background was entirely necessary. Besides, then I wouldn’t have been able to play around with glowing light
