More practical then any of the usual female character armor, which more often then not consists of one piece of string.

You never know, their pipboy targeting systems might be malfunctioning and always aiming for your shoulder!

Oh, and this armor also has the clever feature that, instead of deflecting projectiles like arrows and stuff, the two flaps on the shoulder funnel them toward my neck! Because the neck is a less vulnerable area than the shoulder, right?
