The man stared up in horror as the thing gazed down at him with that unwavering grin. It was precariously perched above his bed, its hands positioned above his head and reaching toward him. When he had opened his eyes, it froze.

"...What are you...?" he asked, though not expecting an answer. The creature tilted its head, as if thinking of a suitable reply, and the man could swear the grin widened.

"....Relief," it finally replied in a strange, raspy, gurgling voice.

The man stared up at the thing and, with the hope of his pain finally alleviating, he asked, "You... can make my pain stop?"

The creature nodded, and the man sighed, a small smile coming over his weary face.

"Then do what you must."

I've been tweaking this synx character for quite some time now, and it occurred to me a bit ago that a hospital, especially the terminal ward, would be PRIME EATING for synxes. I mean... they're practically BEGGING for death. Why not, eh?
