Description
Woah, it seems like I haven't uploaded anything in a while! If you don't know why I don't upload as often as I used to, it's because I'm working on sharpening my drawing skills and having an AP art class. The AP art class requires me to turn in at least 12-15 projects by the end of April/beginning of May, which means I'm gonna have to work extra hard. I was planning on starting my 4th one after I finish this art piece I've been working on since July. This aforementioned art piece is an age chart of Lydia Deetz from the Beetlejuice cartoon! Now, let's get started, shall we?Infant (6 months):
- smiles and giggles a lot
- is unfazed by most scary things
- size of a stuffed animal
- raised by three Neitherworld monsters (Beetlejuice actually kidnapped her on purpose)
- doesn't cry much unless hungry, scared, hurt, or alone
- screams and cries hysterically when left alone in a room
- a little smart for a baby
- very playful; likes to play games with others
- acts like any other baby
Younger Toddler (1 year, 1 month):
- has a little more personality than when she was 6-months old
- has the vocabulary of a 2-year old
- has finally gotten over her separation anxiety
- cries a little less than she used to
- is learning to walk
- understands empathy and right vs wrong
- likes to fool around and mess with people
- has enough hair for a small ponytail
- was forced to reunite with her true parents (Emily and Charles) while on a vacation in the Outerworld
Older Toddler/Preschooler (2 1/2 years):
- is a lot more confident in walking and running
- likes to dig in the mud and collect bugs
- likes to draw monsters on the walls
- likes to pretend to be a werewolf
- is already reading short books
- her obsession with Edgar Allan Poe and horror movie monsters is becoming more apparent
- very easygoing and obedient
- pitches fits whenever her "pets" get taken away or when she can't do something
Little Girl (5 years):
- writes poems and short stories
- is constantly questioning the meaning of life
- almost skipped kindergarten, but was "red-shirted" because she was born after the cutoff and Emily wanted her to make friends with kids her own age
- has a ton of imaginary friends to help cope with her shyness
- has a huge imagination like any other 5-year old
- very insightful and emotionally mature for her age, which is one of the reasons why she struggles to make friends with kids her own age
- likes watching old horror flicks (especially Frankenstein, The Blob, and Dracula)
Grade Schooler (8 years):
- her shyness got worse thanks to losing her biological mother to breast cancer
- is regularly made fun of by other kids because of her interest in bugs and macabre
- Her fascination with the undead increased after attending her mother's funeral
- had to move from New York to Peaceful Pines, Connecticut toward the end of her 2nd grade year
- uses her imaginary friends to cope with her shyness and the loss of her mother
- likes drawing and coloring
Middle Schooler (12/13 years):
- the age she was in the cartoon
- attends 7th grade at Ms. Shannon's School For Girls
- has only four human friends (Bertha, Prudence, Ramon, and Adrian)
- got reunited with her Neitherworld family after years of being separated
- relates more with animals and monsters than humans
- acts more like she's in her early twenties
- like any other middle schooler, she sometimes lacks common sense and is prone to making foolish mistakes
- acts like Beetlejuice's older sister; has to keep an eye on him whenever he's out and about
- probably one of the reasons why Beetlejuice hasn't been fed to the sandworms
Teenager (16 years):
- has more common sense
- still has no boyfriend and no interest in romance except for novels and movies
- is finally getting along with her stepmother Delia after years of hostility
- has a ghost following her around at all times (Beetlejuice thinks that she is going to abandon him if she gets a boyfriend)
- is the president of her school's photography club
- works part time at the grocery store
- is learning to drive
Young Adult (21 years):
- is in her junior year of college
- studying for a major in photography and a minor in literature
- still visits the Neitherworld to hang out with Beetlejuice and friends
- still loves bugs and macabre
- lives in a small apartment with her middle school classmate, Prudence
- struggling to cope with the death of her cat, Percy
- participates in community plays
- is dating her childhood friend, Adrian (much to Beetlejuice's chagrin)
Prime Adult (32 years):
- recently got married with her childhood friend, Adrian
- works as a professional photographer, an author, and a librarian at a New York library
- chose not to have kids of her own because of her busy career (not because she hates kids, she just doesn't want to do the extra work)
- is a godmother to Prudence's daughter
- wrote a series of award-winning novels about her experiences with the undead
- became a bit of a celebrity in both the Neitherworld and Outerworld because of her novels and her ability to interact with the undead
Middle Aged Adult (55 years):
- still works as a librarian and an author, but retired as a photographer because she wanted to spend more time with family
- still hangs out in the Neitherworld with Beetlejuice and friends, but not as often as she used to
- likes reading stories to kids at the library
- is living happily in an old mansion with her husband, Adrian and their two cats
Elderly Adult (74 years):
- bakes cookies and dessert treats for her coworkers
- is getting close to retirement age, but she chooses to keep working at the library
- became a widow after Adrian passed away due to a heart attack
- recently got diagnosed with breast cancer, but is undergoing treatment
- has aged pretty well; looks more like she's in her late fifties/early sixties than an elderly woman
- still loves bugs and macabre just as much as she did when she was a 7th grader
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The details about Lydia's infancy will be explained with greater depth once I publish the upcoming fan novel next year. I won't spoil the rest for you, but you all know that I've been writing it since May. The other ages are not included in the novel, they were made to fill the age chart. Stay tuned!
If you were wondering who Adrian is, he's a character who I created to be one of Lydia's friends. He will be explained once I publish artwork of him (which is in the next week).
Lydia Deetz - Tim Burton (I don't know if he's even fully involved in the animated show, but it's still owned by him nonetheless), Warner Bros (I think they own it)
