I'm an Illustrator user, myself. The vector editing aspects of Flash and Illustrator are essentially the same, though. You can mass-select an entire object and use the gradient tool to give it all one continuous fill if you like by changing the direction of the gradient.

Out school has a thing for the grade nines about painting a ceiling tile before you "graduate" and I used this picture. Hope you dont mind.. I think it looks amazing by the way.
