Frosted fingertips of mother earth
reach into the sky,
brushing clouds as they dance on by.
From below in shadow stands in awe
a man.
Slowly,
up the mother's arm, he makes his way.
To show the world that he
remains free of burdens
binding him to soil
this day.
With great and mighty motions
clamboring up the slope,
sliding over cleft rock
and dangling
from thin strand of rope

Courage, bravery, minor
things
as skyward climbs he
for he looks up and see's
the hand,
which shelters
all
humanity.

Over palm to knuckle joint,
ridges
imperil
along the way, yet onward
he climbs

Then at last on finger tip,
stands he,
ice and snow,
beneath his feet
so slippery
yet safe is the man
who challenged
guarded by faith
is he
by love for the mountain
the mother, the great fierce world
that embraced his glorious
majestic
journey.

When you look skyward
know,
no limit
in its imagery.

For up the rock,
up the hill,
up the mountain
is where we all
should
dare
to be
to see
and
to dream.

Piton, hammer, pack,
claim your kit and rack
and let us go where few
trod,
to commune
face to face
with God.
