A project I started as both a drawing/painting challenge, and as a way to familiarize myself with the meanings of Tarot better. I bought a portable watercolor set by Windsor & Newton as a little way to celebrate the end of semester, and that's what i'll be using to paint the seventy eight cards in this deck.

So we start with the Major Arcana, and it symbolizes the start of a new journey as well as the usual meaning of the word. That original meaning is kind of where this one started, as biting into random fruit held in the shirt of a little grumpy, fairy pest-controlling dwarf is probably not a cool idea. Especially when you neglect to even consider the rest of the group to share with. But as I was painting this, I realized that the original meaning of the card (a new journey) is also taking place here. Sarah is about to be dropped into the ballroom scene. This is where she starts really growing up and doing that whole "whoa am I a kid or am I a woman". That's a big leap for a teenager to make.
