Description
Esparnia has an interesting group of pets, allow me to go through them with you as when the Gelfling left the mainland they took there animals with themCommon Fizzgig these are actuality rare on Esparnia as they have evolved and become white and now have the new name of Nigig the Nigig has bigger teeth that can shovel the ground they are used to find animals under the snow and most Gelfling have them as house pets.
Mogs if the Fizzgig and Nigig are the dogs of Thra then Mogs are the cats, Mogs and are used to find Crawlies and other small animals under the snow they also have a wide mouth much like Fizzgigs but there teeth are reverted much like a pythons and when they bite its very hard to get them to let go unless their master or mistress tells them to release hold.
Snow Whouf's are descended from the mainland Whouf's and have white skin now to blend in with the snow, they are still used for shepherding and herd the Esparnia Mounders which are white unlike their mainland ancestors and are essential as their fur is needed to make warm clothing to keep out the bitter cold. Β
Crawlies there are two types of Crawlies on both Esparnia and on the mainland and you really shouldn't get them mixed up. Glow Crawlies are seen as a pets for little Gelfling children its the first pet most of them get before they later grow up and get a Mog or an Nigig. Glow Crawlies are used by Gelfling for seeing in dark places as Gelfling sight is best in day light but not so good in the pitch black and its takes a long time for their eyes to adjust to that kind of dark.
Common Crawlies on the other hand are farmed on mass by everyone on Esparnia they are considered a stable food though unlike the Skeksis they are always eaten dead unless you live in the desert that is and have to eat and run. It is considered offensive to offer them up on a plate to the native Podlings though as they can't stand them because unlike the Gelfling they find them far to salty and tasteless and they also class them as annoying vermin as they are always trying to hide under there sleeping Landstriders.Β

I am in awe at your imagination, Silver! I adore the idea for these pets, especialy Mogs, because I am a cat person myself!
I love glowing crawly! Very adorable pet for a kid gelfling!
I bet SkekKel would eat it, none the less, because he adire crawlies, even such beauties... or maybe not? He likes glow in nature ^^
You have awesome ideas... and just look at these pets, how well drawn they are and how cuddly and cute!

Same here, I'm a cat person and watching my cat was what made me put in the design
Thank you, yeah I wanted there to be a running joke with Crawlies in that you have to do a command to get them to glow and Sanya well she gets really frustrated about it, because she likes eating them a lot and has to constantly check that she not about to eat some little kids pet. As in the Gelfling super clans they sort of run around everywhere (Also because its cold and they like heat so they like to group by the fires in big groups) but it means you can't always tell what's an escaped lunch from the farming pen and what's a pet, because there not stupid and the escaped farmed ones know that if they hide among the pets, they might not get eaten .

Haha, this is somehow cute, this idea about crawlies pets mistaken for farmed ones Good thing that it doesn't happen to often... or I hope so! ^^

I loved the idea because it reminded me of tribbels from star trek and that some people really like little fury things even more so if there little kids because I've seen video footage of kids being really worried when they loose mice or their hamster.
No the mistaking of crawlies does not happen every often its more of a Sanya thing to her everything is food having lived in the desert, so she has concept of the difference between the two Crawlie types because she eats both as and when she can find them, her partner does though and stop her from making a big mistake.

Yes! It's exactly as tribbles! People kids (and all kids overall) love little furry balls to squeeze and pet. I am guilty of that as well haha ^^
Uff, that's good that it happens not that often. I imagined crying gelfling child who lost her/his pet between the teeth of Sanya!

Totality confess I love tribbels to and I did weakly sit peoples hamsters when I was young and though I never got a rodant as a pet I can totality see why children love them. I was more a budgie person, but it sort of feels like the same thing although budgies are small and feathery.
Oh trust me I'd never write some poor kid loosing there pet, not in to that whole kill old yeller thing....

Those are cool things.
Mogs sound like the Spaceballs species and Niggigs look like bulldogs with their teeth. They both look like Krites from Critters.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT ADDITION AS TO GIVE MORE AND MORE DEPTH, by adding even pets and commor creatures from your story as a design concept, and giving out details to their uses, appearance and demeanor...GREAT WORK!
I like the adaptations you mention, hich switch from mainland creatures to icelands ones.
Also, not only the drawings are good, but the animal's features and characteristics are cleverly thought and fun to read about!
I personally, especially Β love your addition of the MOG and NIGIG. Cute and amazing critters!!! ^^
AND the glow crawlies...those are so cool too!
SkekLa: Ahhh, my fellow the Gourmand and his ideas of fresh deserts...I personally DETEST live crawlies running about, they... *lowering her voice until it's only a raspy whisper* They FRIGHTEN ME TO NO END!...I somehow abbhorr the way they MOVE!...Brrrrr...
I know SkekEkt does too.
I have no idea to why this happens to me, I am not a foolish oversensitive skeksis...but those creatures...overall, any small bug...just gets to my nerves if is too close! *shudder*
I rather also having them cooked or at least dead, thank you... u.u

I confess I'm a cat person and while I was sketching my cat was sleeping next to me and it made me think yeah not all Gelfling would be dog people some might want cats or both as pets are very defining of people. Yeah the glow Crawlies and Crawlies are kind of a nit of an in joke for fans of the movie to laugh about also Gelfling on the ice lands are having constant issues with food so I don't see them being that picky about eating them or farming them, but the running joke is have to check they don't glow when you command them or you could wind up eating some kids pet by mistake.

Eurydice looking at sketch then at La. "Yeah well I can agree with that, I mean I love Crawlies but eating food alive, just doesn't sit well with me..."
