Description
Well... it's good that I finally update the descriptions of these DDLC sketches. Otherwise, it would be only a senseless quote and nothing else to interpretate. If you haven't read the details behind this fanfiction yet, I would suggest reading this first, before I enter in detail about this sketch: www.deviantart.com/silverpenci…
This would have been an interesting set of pages to have. What you see here is Stephen's reaction to the fact that he became younger, but his features seem all to realistic if you ask me. That's because I wanted to do a transition.
After he wakes up the first time, he realizes that he is younger, but sees the Black Space or The Void, with the shapeless objects floating in there. That was because of something I failed to specify - there was a large text on top of a tower of floating objects that said very specifically:
"WORD DIRECTORY UPDATING..."
**SPOILERS***
That meant that Stephen awakened before he should have seen that text, after opening his bedroom door.
This moment held a very important meaning in the story and for its ending - Because Libitina had Stephen trapped in these world for quite some time to completer her challenge and wiped his memories every time he would restart the world, this last chance that he got and from which out story begins, brings an advantage for Stephen to defeat Libitina.
To tell you the truth, I still don't know how THE REAL ENDING of the story should be - for Stephen to remain in world of DDLC or escape. I mean there's a lesson to be learned in each case, but each of them has a bitter-sweet feeling about it.
I mean staying in a virtual world because you have come to enjoy and see the things around you as real - that's would most want to see - seeing Stephen be happy with the dokis and his new found friends and restart his life from zero. But... everything is limited. Even I didn't think if these events are taking place in an all-powerful-computer or some digital-world/matrix/sci-fi. All that you feel about the world is that it feels limited, like the real world, but it'll fade someday in obscurity.
Same goes for the ending where Stephen returns to the real world. He is back, he is happy that he helped the dokis, he has a better impression about himself and can face more challenges in life, but he cannot let go of this experience. Even if we want to overcome hard situations or strong feelings in our life, we have to keep those past feelings behind us, in order to improve. You never let go. It just stays there and always reminding. Isn't that kinda bitter-sweet?
Well... that's the reason why I wanted to implement multiple ENDINGS in the story, showing first what was the wrong decision, then return to the normal/good path of the story.
