I suddenly got the urge to draw Scourge, even though I know nothing about him (yet)
....Lately I've been too lazy to draw backgrounds. I have all these drawings ready for backgrounds and for some of them I even know what I want to do, but I just for some reason don't have the motivation to do it. Honestly, though, I think this drawing is fine without a background.

It took about 4 hours. The colouring is what took the longest.

I could tell the colouring took a lot of effort. I'm not great at colouring or shading.

Colouring (as well as shading) is something that takes practice. It's just one of those things you have to do over and over again to find a way that works. Honestly, it is just a matter of trial and error for me. I constantly experiment with different ways of colouring and shading. Also, it helps me a lot to look at other people's drawings to see how they do it.
