Queensbury Tunnel, BradfordQueensbury Tunnel is, or rather was, not just a railway tunnel, but a rather magnificent piece of civil engineering.
When it was built in 1878 it was the longest tunnel on the Great Northern Railway system at 1 mile 741 yards, and held that distinction until 1910.
The bore was on a falling gradient of 1 in 100, dropping towards Halifax and was bored through sandstone by the Diamond Rock Boring Company.
