Description
I recently learnt that red foxes are not always red, they come in lots of different and pretty colours.Although they are 'pests' in Australia and very hated, I find them beautiful creatures.
From left: Bastard, Melanistic (black), Cross, Classic Red, Silver (also known as melanistic, as full black foxes are so rare), Albino.

Psst grey foxes aren't the same thing as bastard foxes. A grey fox is its own species, a bastard fox can be referring to any species, its a rare mutation where the animal doesn't grow any guard hairs.

Would you say that the bastard fox is rare though? When I was searching for references it seemed to be the most common colour.

Sorry for the late reply, and yes they are very rare I only know of a few of them that I've seen. A lot of people seen to be mixed up about what it means. The most common other than red, would be a cross ^^
