Description
Some of my friends in the real world (yes, I have a life outside the internet), say that I'm 'crazy' because I like to read. And reading for FUN? Oh wow, I need to be put in a mental institution. I mean come on, who actually wants to read for fun? No 'normal' person should read for FUN.Template: [link]

LOL.
I'm not fussy really. As long as it's good, I'll read it.

ugh. My friend loves a certain anime, (*cough* hetalia *cough*) but refuses to read the manga because "she's lazy and doesn't like reading stuff". <--- exact quote. Then she wonders why half the time she doesn't know what i'm talking about. (relating to the manga)

Sometimes I prefer the anime over the manga, just because it'll make more sense to me, but I'll sit for hours reading the manga anyway. I'll give my other friend something to read and she just hands it back saying, "I don't read."
That's just kind of sad...

yeah, I usually watch the anime first, then read the manga. I don't get how people can be so lazy. Reading isn't a workout, why would anybody be too lazy to flip pages?

I think they just don't want to "work" their brain, or maybe reading make them feel like they're in school

Oooh I totally know what you're talking about...
I've got this bookshelf above my bed, with many heavy books on it... I bet one night it'll crash onto my head while I'm asleep...

Totally...
Hmmm... no, I don't think I want to move it away from the wall... xD If I happen to die from a bookshelf falling onto my head, I'll at least have loved literature to death... (other way round would make more sense.. |D)

I live in a family of readers
my mom loves vampire novels(Excluding Twilight, even SHE says its utter crap), romances, and comedies
my dad love literature, comedies, and sarcasm.
I love comedic adventures, graphic novels, and instruction booklets that come with Nintendo games
During study hall at school, I saw one of my friends wasn't reading, and I was like "Hey, don't you have a book to read?" she said, "No, why should I? I'm just gonna text" The people of today

LOL. My mum likes to read all kinds of books, but the moment I bought Twilight from the bookstore (I was excited because everyone was telling me how good it was, I hadn't read it yet, she took one look at it and said. "That book is gonna be crap. You've wasted your money."
She was so right.
I'm like your mum then, I like romances and comedies as well. Also horror.
Haha, awesome. I LOVE graphic novels.
Really? Oh God.

But- but- READING IS SUCH FUN
Is it such a crime that I enjoy picking up a book and reading it in my spare time without being told to?
It isn't MY fault that they cannot understand the joy of immersing one self in another world. They have no clue what they are missing out on!

SilverTidalWave In reply to RAWRItzKat [2011-12-13 20:51:28 +0000 UTC]

That's what I was thinking the whole time they were talking to me. I tried explaining that, but no, apparently no teenager should read for fun. She should go shopping instead.

And I've been farther than the most seasoned traveller.

Exactly! And I'd tell them things like, "Worms have no eyes", and "The song 'It's raining, it's pouring' is about a concussion", and they'd go, "What?"
Ah, good times.

I know...
Yep, I know that as well as anyone, I read WAAY to much of it.
I know...I think it's because with fanfiction, we can take the story and do what we like with it. And when you read one book so many times, a fanfiction is quite refreshing.
